I don't even think that they are horrible at it. To claim that you are horrible at something you have to first actually try your hand at that something. I see no evidence that they even attempt to address the position let alone place any value in it. When you don't even attempt your hand at something you can't really be blamed for just sucking at it.

Taco wishes he was getting NFL sized $ . Instead he’s terrorizing the minor leagues .
Gregory is only getting paid due to his incredible physical skillset. He has failed just as badly as Taco, he's only getting contracts for potential.

Paychecks are a poor way to judge players.

Except that it is his job as GM to address the position!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I mean the law of averages has to start working out in their favor at some point, right?
The law of averages only works w/ all other things being equal. When you have a GM who is terrible at personnel evaluation, most likely not. We're still losing the playoffs for the same reason we've lost since Tuna's team got old.

Ah, the mythical idea that a DE isn't any good if he doesn't get 20 sacks.

We are a different team when DLaw is on the field. He makes the D mountains better w/o getting sacks. Huge difference maker. You must be big into FF.

Crawford was a good rotational type that we overpaid and then played out of position at DE. Just some more stupid/crazy crapp that this FO does.
Jerry's War Daddy "pre-Micah" got 100 million guaranteed on a second contract.
You damn right he was being paid to sack the QB.

The infamous group of this we were tired run stopping DE supporters and his setting the edge and pressures...lol, smh

Again,
He was being paid to get home.
And he failed.
It was another huge second contract overpay by Jerry. Plain and simple.
He usually disappears after Thanksgiving too.

But oh yeah, his pre game pep talks are cool.

Lawrence is only now being paid what he is worth. One of the worst second contracts ever for the boys. This crap about how valuable he is in the run game is just that. We could have spent half as much to get someone that pretty much did the same thing.

Bro,
You are so right.
I have never understood the group here who go so far out of their way to boost him up. Playing the run and getting in the vicinity of the QB was not Jerrys reason for paying him all that money.
JAGs get 4 to 6 sacks and make occasional run stops.

That wasn't fantasy football Jerry was thinking.
He thought he was paying a guy who could consistently get double digit sacks.

Turns out it was an extremely poor return on investment.

I can't get over the "We were tired" statement either.
What a leader.

We dont draft well most positions after the 1st round, cornerback is the one position we had success on after the first. What positions would you say we draft well?
So you say we don't draft well.

I think we all agree we don't sign free agents.

How exactly did they manage these last 3 seasons of double digit wins with such horrible players from the draft???

The last defensive lineman that made at least one probowl was Demacus Lawrence and he was drafted in 2014, in 10 years we have not drafted one legit starter. Unbelievable, looking back at our draft classes, im not sure where the "we draft well" comes from
We’ve had a lot of good drafts or we wouldn’t keep making the playoffs. We do little in free agency so we have drafted well but we keep missing on the DL. Just because we haven’t drafted well on the DL doesn’t mean we don’t draft well.

No it’s the measuring stick . Paychecks = interest . Notice no one is beating Tacos door down or Zeke

Not all on Dallas. It's not very many good ones anymore. You have a few and sometimes College schemes don't set these players up well
No, there are many many good ones. They are very hard to draft, however. And w/ the focus on O, you don't hear their names all that much anymore.

No, it's a very poor measuring stick. Many many players have been paid a ton who were not good simply because they had potential. Doesn't mean they were good because they got paid. Taco is just as good as Gregory at this point. Same player.

That's what I keep telling myself year after year about our Super Bowl chances too, lol.
Except that our GM is such a poor evaluator that we keep losing for the same reason: Can't stop the run. And that starts w/ the DT positions. Hey, looks as if Jerry is at least trying now, just wish he wasn't such a poor evaluator. Mazi was not the pick.

It drives me nuts that in the last 15 years we haven’t paid more than 5m per season for a DT. I firmly believe we should spend our 1st rounders on O-line and edge rushers and free agency focused on DT.

Instead it’s Nick Hayden’s and Joey Ivies that we sign/draft.
