News: Fox: Cam Newton says the Cowboys 'are not America's Team anymore'

It's a nickname. Not a nationwide concensus.
People who make this argument are either ignorant, envious or just plain wanting to start an argument.

The team is worth more than $5Billion!
The most value of any sports franchise on the planet.

Now, with that being said, the fans generally suck.

Two way to look at this. One, we still get the best ratings, we still have the largest fanbase, we are the most valuable franchise in sports. So from that perspective, sure, call us America's Team.

But on the flipside, it was success on the field that made us the most watched team in the NFL and got us the name America's Team. Over the last 25+ years, we've actually been just a run of the mill franchise, with some quality regular seasons always followed by early playoff flame outs. When you look at our peers in terms of playoff success over the almost three decades, it's not exactly a slate of whose who in NFL history. So from that perspective, I can see how some would say we no longer own that moniker.
