News: Fox: Cam Newton says the Cowboys 'are not America's Team anymore'

whoooooooooooooooo cares!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!????
omg I have been hearing they are, they arent, they are, they arent, they are blah blah 48 years now. Please stop. It means nothing either way. If NFL Films had not named the 76 highlight film "Americas Team" the phrase would never have come into existence.

Mr. Cam:
I liked you better when you were wearing hats with feathers in it.
Hey, old boy, old fellow, stolen any laptops lately?

Fun fact: Dallas remains America's Team. Why? Merchandizing,. The Cowboys lore makes them America's team and the Boys are a team anyone in the world recognizes, not like the Panthers or whatever trash team you were on.
Fun fact: Even our often rattled, often confused QB is better than you ever were.
Fun fact: Newton is in the dustbin of NFL history.

Two way to look at this. One, we still get the best ratings, we still have the largest fanbase, we are the most valuable franchise in sports. So from that perspective, sure, call us America's Team.
We probably shouldn't be tops in those things after all these years of mediocrity, but the simple fact is that we are. Networks covet our team because it is consistently the biggest ratings draw. I've always said that the NFL should do everything it possibly can to make us relevant because it is best for the league. Put Dallas back in a Super Bowl and there's no telling what the ratings would be.

We're not America's team hell in another year or so we won't even be Texas team!!!!

It’s hard for me to give a hoot about what someone says that dresses like my great grandmother.

The most valuable franchise in the world.... the most NFL fans AND haters.... played in most of the highest TV ratings games..... yep. I think we're still America's Team.

And the biggest proof of that is this..... when you just HEAR the word America's Team spoken, what's the FIRST team name that pops up in your head??

Case closed.

Remember ladies and gentlemen: the new/media of today is not about informing people, its about baiting people.

Have a good day!

<[they] "are not America's Team no more.">

And, quite obviously, Cam Newton is no Rhodes Scholar.

I think Cam Newton is a fashionista and you all are just jealous. This man is just walking around wearing whatever he wants. The aura surrounding this man is incredible.

The peacock feathers and orange shoes were memorable.

Lol@Willy Wonka reference! Actually, Wonka dressed better!!
Dude has been out of the league longer than Kaepernick it seems and he's just trying really really hard to be relevant...if it wasn't for Fox and ESPN he would have no air time...yes the same Fox who employs Skip/Keyshawn and SAS/Shay Shay LOL.

But on the flipside, it was success on the field that made us the most watched team in the NFL and got us the name America's Team.
Don't know about that. Admittedly, I'm too young to remember but at the time the America's Team label came out, the Steelers were way more successful than we were. The Vikings too for that matter. Don't know if the promo was before the '76 season (after we just lost to the Steelers) or after it when the Raiders beat the Vikings (their 3rd loss in 4 Bowls) but I wonder if the popularity was in part due to an anti-bad guy team (Steelers/Raiders) sentiment where we were pumped up as "the good guys" to root for. And then like everything else people just got tired of it with 1 Bowl to show for it until the 90s. Would love to hear from an older poster who remembers that time well.
