Why does the offense look so much different with another QB?

Of course it's two different players, but Dak was known for having more athletic abilities than Rush, yet every game we've seen rush in this year, he's been in the pistol??

I'm not trying to make this into a diss Dak thread, I just think there's elements to this offense that seem to work better with Rush in there. The game plan seems much better, the plays seem better. I'm not sure why we don't do these kinds of things with Dak. Please give me your thoughts

It is different. More under center, more of the Shanahan/Kubiak type looks where everything flows one direction and they run play action bootleg the other way to the TE or WR dragging across that always seems to work.

I still think Dak gets to call the show, and he wants to run the same shotgun stops/curls that he's been comfortable with since the Garrett days.

I don’t think I saw one curl route yesterday. Totally different . I’ll take more of that please. Until next year… when the 60million dollar man returns.

wait what...sorry coogiguy, but did you say every game? or did you forget the past two outings? one of them was a 40 yard passing game one of the worst ever in NFL history...

this is fools gold. special teams saved the day. and their kicker missing two easy PATs.... lady luck helped a lot.

6 points, 10 points then 20 points in a game that was as crazy as it gets. The Cowboys are struggling to score points with Rush too. I don't see a difference.

It's doesn't look any different. It's pedestrian at best.

It does look different to me. Of course this is just standard TV views and my recollection. It would be cool to put some science on it.

Things seem to flow more, not quite as forced. More guys touching the ball. It just looks like a more smooth complete machine. Moving parts moving.

I'm not gonna say this is all coops doing. There could be multiple reasons for my viewpoint....including me just being wrong.:muttley:

Daks not more athletic than Rush.

He used to be, but he’s not now.

Rush also has the ability to read a defense.

Rush isn’t good by any means, but Dak just sucks.
If Rush had a live arm he might be one otlf the best in the league. But he has a noodle, so hes really not good. The team plays steps up and plays hard and with more discipline for him though, so...Leadership.

This pretty much covers it. Rush does not have the physical attributes (i.e. arm strength) that you need to be an upper echelon NFL quarterback.
But from a mental aspect in terms of being able to properly read the defense, go through progressions, and identify where the ball should go and also to maintain poise under pressure, he is miles ahead of Dak. And Dak has been learning on the job for close to 9 years now

I also think your leadership comment is very accurate. Despite what we hear from certain segments of this forum, I have never bought and will never buy this idea that Dak is some unbelievable leader who has command of that locker room.

I think a lot of guys in the locker room gave up on him a long time ago.

Two things can be true at once:

1) Dak is much better than Rush. Let’s not fool ourselves.

2) If Rush is better at something, it’s avoiding unnecessary sacks. Dak holds on to the ball and wonders into defenders. He makes the pass protection look worse than it is. In past seasons, when the offense was humming, it overcame the sacks. This year, there’s been no humming.

loooooooooooooooooooool this is probably the greatest post I've read in a while!!! It's all about what #4 is comfortable with not what could actually help us and possibly CHALLENGE a defense!!!! Spot on post!!!!!!!!!!!!

They are using more motion, running the ball more, and most importantly - the OL is playing much better rotating in Richards and with Zack out.

Much more to do with the latter than who's under center.
ok so why is that??

It's different for sure......but let's not start the "Cooper is the Man" campaign again. Don't do that to Cooper.
never it could be the coordinators i'm not sure what it is, but I like it and don't understand why we just stand in the shot gun all game long with Dak and nothing else

Rush is better at avoiding sacks because he checks the ball down way too much. Dak on the other hand is trying to make plays down the field but needs to check it down a little bit more often.
