Brian Baldinger on Brock Hoffman

A good game, let's see him do it consistently, this saves Jerry time, money, and effort instead of having to look for another player when we have depth that can go in already

I'm all for young guys working out. However, what I'm not for is taking a very small sample size and thinking that player is the next coming. Don't forget Doug Free, Crawford, Jaylon, Underwear Thief, Brandon Carr. Let the kid play against various types of players first and then we'll talk. Beating up on a bad Giants team proves nothing.

Some of us have been on the Hoff train for a bit now. Every chance he’s gotten to play he’s done well and plays with an attitude that this team misses. I think he will continue to develop and get better.

Absolutely agree. I hope the Cowboys can get him snaps the rest of the year just so that we can get a decent sample size. He is a free agent at seasons end so you'll have to commit and pay him. I'd want as big of a sample size as possible if I'm the Cowboys.

To be honest this was the first game that Hoffman really impressed me on tape. The previous week against Washington I thought he was very average. Going back to last year the starts he had against Carolina and Arizona I think you can see the potential, but I struggle to say he played well. I fear the Hoffman hype is from watching mostly bad OL play the last couple years so fans are clinging onto any hope they can find.

I wont write him off because I did really like what I saw against the Giants, but we certainly need to see more snaps from him. It'll be a tough decision at the end of the year as I imagine other teams will have interest in him as well.

This is good stuff. Hoffman could (maybe should) be the starting next year.

I'll admit..I thought this might be click-bait for a slow season by Baldy...Cowboys backups are going to generate clicks.

But this was just good ole tape...hopefully he's up next.

IMO you just need guys who are smart and know their assignment.

All pro guards are nice, but a luxury. Don't go Adam Gase and ignore the position but at the same time we don't need 2 All pro guards to run an offense.

I'll take a Kyle Kosier any day if it came to using a 1st on a DL over a guard.

Totally with you here. As soon as I started hearing the hype I thought to myself, "So this is the next guy to be pumped up?" Everyone wants to get in on the ground floor so they can tell you they told ya.

Our last two games we’ve had a 100 yard rusher, Hoffman has been in the starting lineup.

Last week against the giants and 2023 at Arizona.
And last week when running behind Hoffman the Cowboys had 8 carries for 24 yards. Having a 100 yard rusher has had more to do with sticking with the run game, and feeding one guy more than anything. This was just the 2nd game all year that Dowdle has had 20+ carries.
