The Buffalo Bills' Powerhouse Offense "Centered" on This Ex-Cowboy

Jerry Jones lets our young talent go and never replaces them with the poor comp picks given by the NFL. Some turn out to be solid starters. Look at the Bills' center, Connor McGovern, a 2019 Dallas Cowboy draft pick. He has a good chance of going to the Super Bowl. Offensive linemen sometimes need several years of grooming to become starters.

That's not something exclusive to just the Cowboys. Other teams let players go every year and they go on to be productive players with other teams.

I get the Jerry hate. There are plenty of reasons. But this isn't one of them. Not when it happens league wide.

Yeah, they're cycling through OL (Connor, Conner, Biadasz) maybe they'll learn how to sign these new guys and keep them around when they mature instead of other teams getting all the benefits.

Sure it happens to every one but it happens too much to us. We were desperate for better Center play when we let him walk. Either coaches can't evaluate talent or other factors override them.

He honestly was not a good player here, very inconsistent and never seemed to have that power you want from a lineman
He had shown the traits and improvement. There is no way he went from not good enough to getting a contract and starting for them immediately without showing enough for us to keep him.

This front office has no clue lineman on both sides of the ball need time to mature they aren't necessarily at their peak in strength and weight directly out of college.
Running backs wide receivers they can hit the ground running at top speed but lineman need time to put on their man weight and develop their full power.
Of course there's a few like Travis Frederick that come out of college a powerhouse but that's the exception rather than the rule.

Our coaches aren't even talented enough to figure out what the best group is to have out on our offensive line.
It's only been in the last few games where we decided to let Bass and Hoffman play that we were able to run the ball Jerry bound and bent on playing the draft picks before they're ready

Strange but it looks more to me that the Bills powerhouse offense is centered around Josh Allen who is playing out of his mind right now, and is a good bet to be MVP. Their defense is trash but the offense is scary good and Allen is the biggest reason why.

Josh is a superstar for sure but that OL is doing their job.

I don’t want to make it sound like I’m suggesting he was bad player but at that time Connor was not a 25 mil player here. It worked out for the Bills, but no one thought he would be a top starter for this team at that time. IMO

But something told a team that he could yet the team who had him for what 4 years didn't have a clue. You see the disconnect I'm getting at?

Kinda like Bass & Hoffman getting forced into action and things are better. Or when we traded away Chavarious Ward when we desperately needed better CB play. Wasn't it Dono Wilson they kept refusing to play? Bad decisions are too often made.

Rest of their line is probably a good match.

McGovern is the same guy he was in his last two seasons here - an average NFL starting lineman. On a loaded team with an MVP quarterback, he's a "glue guy". On a talent-barren offense with a backup QB, he'd be "just another one of Jerry's overpaid vets."

Dude's not a bad lineman and has deserved his nice 4-year guaranteed contract from Buffalo, but he's no Hall of Famer either.

Anyway, I would prefer that we keep the McGoverns and Biadaszes of the world rather than let them walk. Interior OLs take a long time to develop and sign for comparatively cheap in free agency. So when you let them go after 4 years, you pretty much just pay for 2 or 3 years of their job training, and their new team reaps the rewards.

In regards to that, I’m with you 100%. The family run business here is an absolute joke. Most roster guesses here are bad guesses

Uhhh, it's because the Oline coaches here in recent years have absolutely SUCKED!

Connor McGovern
Connor Williams
Tyler Biadasz

They all had potential but were never coached up to their full potential here in Dallas... or played at their best position. As soon as they left to another team, another team's coaches immediately helped make them better. THIS has been probably the biggest problem in Dallas for the past decade or two. What affects the trenches affects the rest of the team. I wish Jerry understood this. Get better Oline and Dline coaches who actually know how to coach up players and realize where to better play them, this team would perform so much better.

He was an underachieving lad here. But good luck Mr. McGovern.

Coaches didn't like him. This is old stuff, even his dad said some stuff about his time here in Dallas.

My bad, I thought this was about Amari. Cooper, lol
