Dallas didn't need to re- sign Dak

Dak was going to be paid a lot of money to play quarterback somewhere. Just like Burrow, like Goff, like Lawrence, and others. Jerry waited and who knows what Dak’s agent told him, but it prompted Jerry to acquiesce. The difference between Dak’s and Goff’s contract is not the difference between be able to compete for the NFC championship and missing the playoffs. Burrow is playing outstanding this season. Bengals will almost certainly miss the payoffs, too. So the difference between a shot at the Super Bowl and missing the playoffs must lie somewhere other than just your quarterback.

Prescott has a lot of football left. Jerry committed to him, now Jerry has to find the other 52 guys and a head coach to make it happen. It’s on the owner/GM, not Dak Prescott. Dak’s deal is about the only thing Jerry’s done right in recent years.
We will never know but something tells me Dak would not have had the market you think. Especially after this year.

My only AGENDA is the glory for the STAR and anyone or anything that hinders that has a problem with PAPPY!
Please dont use the words of the DAKSTAINS you converse with and apply them in that fashion to PAPPY.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you......

glory for the star or **********? :muttley: :muttley:

He has a no trade clause, so he can veto any trade. But I’d bet he’d love to go elsewhere and would approve almost any trade. Problem is finding a team that will pick up his huge contract. And Jerry is not going to pay millions for him to play elsewhere.

So a trade would take Jerry Jones to seek it and offset the cost to the team getting him. And what could the Cowboys get for him. The Cowboys are not going to trade Dak Prescott….even if Dak would love to be traded.
I think the Cowboys could force a trade with Dak. Although he has the final say on a trade he doesn’t have a final say on playing and no way will he ever stand on the sideline with his helmet off.

It’s a hardball move but it could be done if the will is there. The next step would be to get the trade partner to pick up some salary like the Falcons with Cousins.

Granted it’s a messy ending but not as bad as playing it out with poor performances and injuries for another three years.

Or any team that has no idea what a franchise QB even looks like. I mean just look at Cleveland and the Falcons.
Start up your own team, then you can act like you know any more than Cleveland. Or any NFL team. You're just spouting nonsense opinions.

Well no, but it's the theory that the alternative to this mythical view that a team needs a Franchise QB, is you build a team and fill in a cheaper QB.
We go back to the CAP% argument of winning QB's.....unless you're in the GOAT conversation you aren't getting to the SB with a 15% hit, it's all about the QB's ability to step up when the team CAP% reduces in incorporate the QB.
Yes, it has nothing to do with the D stepping up, the running game stepping up, or God forbid maybe a good game plan for once, never mind making adjustments at half time.

What makes us think he will be good is that he has a very long track record of being very good. Just last year he was easily a top 2 or 3 quarterback.

I'm not sure if you guys watch other teams, but quarterback play is pretty bad. Geno Smith and Sam Darnold are mentioned and these players are not comparable to Dak.

Darnold has finally played well for the first time in his career, where he has a great offense and a great defense...obviously he has played well but his team is wayy better than what the cowboys have.

Geno Smith has been terrible pretty much all year so I have no idea why he is even mentioned....
you have Dak blinders on. he is average at best and is declining every year. i'd take Geno every day of the week over Dak. Darnold is finally getting a chance to play with some good skilled players. i'd take Darnold with a concussion over Dak.

Yea, about what I'd expect from someone who reasons based on some article of faith vs his own brain.
