The Incredible Arrogance Of Jerry Jones & The Dallas Cowboys

it's not arrogance,it's deliberate malfeasance, the Jones family has decided that they won't try to win the SB ever again.if you think that's hyperbole than see Stephen's comments for next season- same rinse and repeat next year too

It's delusional wish fulfillment. These jackasses are playing fantasy football with themselves. They don't care about delivering a quality product to the fans. They know they have a mostly captive audience, so they can do whatever the hell gives them a dopamine burst on any given day and everyone else can spin.

Do people really believe that they don’t want to win. I can’t imagine that I think he dreams about it. It drives him crazy.

Can someone give bullet points of what he said
I was imagining that it would be just more ridicule. None of us understands what the Jones family is really about or trying to accomplish. It’s all speculation. On both sides of the debate. Jerry and Company would love nothing more than to hoist up another Lombardi trophy. I just don’t think they have The correct formula to get it done.

i am sure he wants to win just enough to keep the cowboys as the number one franchise in TV and Merch sales.nothing they have done the past decade indicates they are leaving no stones unturned to win the SB.heck they have mostly sat out FA and only brought in guys nobody wants(for almost a decade) and they will do it again next season and Stephen has basically admitted thats the case.Cowboys will not win the SB until the Jones family is forced to sell the team.

At the risk of being a contrarian, I do think Jerry Jones cares deeply about winning another SB, BUT he wants to do it his way. Therein lies the rub. JJ wants to prove he is a great GM and often makes decisions at odds with conventional wisdom or even sound judgment.

At the end of the day, you're judged by results and not intentions or verbiage. The results over the last 30 years shows Jones has come up short... there is a noticeable gap between his desire to win a SB and his actions to achieve the goal.

What's most discouraging for me is that he continues to make the same mistakes with personnel managemet and coaching year after year. To make matters worse, Jones made a huge mistake this year with his "all in" statement.

My mood may be influenced by the blizzard-like conditions we're experiencing. I think I'll make a big pot of beef stew comfort food.

it is not ignorance. its by design. the goal has been achieved. we are the most talked about team in the NFL. when we were 3-7.
we were on national TV every game this season.

the goal for the Joneses is to be relevant in the media. not relevant in football and for that to happen we have to be just good enough. barely. and the goal is achieved.
Jerry doesn't cater to true die hard football fans, his target audience is the casual, fringe fans, who like the cowboys, but are not die hard, they are there for the experience. they buy into what jerry sells.

so Jerry and Stephen achieved what they wanted. their goal is to maximize profits and that they achieved. we are 29th in dead money and 16th in cash spend and moved that high only because of Dak, CD contracts this past year, prior we were in low 20s. we also have 23M in cap space, 28th in total cap, which puts us closer to the cap floor than the cap limit.

all of this points to Jerry maximizing profits, minimizing cash spend and valuing ROI on investment more than anything else. CD has a great ROI, he was top 10 jersey selling player in NFL. Dak was top 20 in NFL, so is parsons. those are the players that get the contracts.

IDK ......... Pure speculation here but I think we are about to see something major from them. Perhaps a major hire and/or some restructuring of the way they have done things. We can call Jerry many things but we can't deny he knows how to make money or protect investments. With that said, he's about to have THREE of the largest contracts at different positions ( Dak, Lamb and Parsons ). As with any businessman, you want an excellent return on your investment. This IMO this is the difference between now and a few years ago. Again, I could be wrong but I think he's about to do whatever is necessary to get the maximum return.

** Perhaps we could see a Parcell type of hire.
** We already know a new coach will need a new OC AND DC
** The new coach will have to hire an ENTIRE new staff of assistant coaches. When was the last time this happened since Jerry?
** Serious talk McClay may move on

I admit I can't think of any coaches Jerry may respect enough to give this kind of authority ( Saban, Carroll, Vrabel, Belichick ). Perhaps he knows someone available we have no clue about.

But since he's refusing to take the actions to win, then just how badly does he want to win?

Unless you listen to him. Then it becomes wildly apparent that he is about himself. Not really hard to understand.
