105.3 the fan! Inside McCarthy's departure

You guys don't think any of this is true? He can't be making up all of this stuff

Yes he can and he is. They’re reframing what happened this is done all the time. See Cooper, it was Jerry who was the one talking craziness and being upset. Now all of a sudden it’s MM? Come on, Coog. MM is widely respected around the league this isn’t a secret, but what they’re doing is trying to save face with FO. That’s all this is. I hope MM fires back once he lands the Bears job.

That whole segment sounded like nothing more than a curation of every public thing that fans know and have known for a long time.

There was no "inside" information, just a lot of speculation and regurgitation of news we have all read and discussed online for the last few years.

The only difference is he is putting more of it on McCarthy now that he is the easy target .. err .. I mean scapegoat.

LISTEN TO ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I want the same exact thing, I just wish he said it while he was still here, please HIGHLIGHT my name in your comments whenever he starts to make comments about this team, we're both going to smile together. I wish more people would leak stuff about this team, would it change anything, who knows

Was the guy just sitting on this for years and waiting until McCarthy leaves to kick the guy as hes leaving? Or is this just information that the Cowboys front office is now leaking to make them look good? It just feels like an easy ratings grab (which I dont blame them for) along with going along with the Cowboys narrative here.

I have no interest in tuning in. If they want to go back to giving Jerry some real questions we want answered then Ill be a regular listener.

There may be more I just wanted to get the thread started, but if this is all, what a waste of time

Didn't Jane Slater report that the Cowboys were surprised MM walked away from a deal? That would imply Jerry wanted to re-sign him. She also reported that they wanted Witten to coach under McCarthy, who would mentor him into the HC spot when McCarthy retired.

of course, everything we are hearing could be wrong and no one knows for sure except the people directly involved, and even then they probably all have a different perception on what actually happened. But I think Jerry wanted Mike back, but knowing he had other options, Mike held out for what he wanted and Jerry said no.

Any one provide a brief recap? Audacy doesn't play in Canada

I wouldn't be surprised. But after this season I can see why he would have asked for more. Dude is one of the lowest paid HC's in the NFL coaching a franchise that is the most valuable sports franchise on the planet. Jerry also royally set him up to fail this season with his offseason moves and claims of "all in." Everyone could see this was going to end in disaster and it did. Yea I'm amazed that McCarthy would even pick up Jerry's phone call let alone meet the man for a sit down negotiation.

There are so many jokes that could come from your post, Coogs but I'll leave it alone. If it was Friday though ....

I listened to it at 2X speed and while I was not expecting anything shocking, the whole "just wait until Thursday" message was nothing more than a promotional campaign as he openly admitted at the start of the segement that it was not going to be anything big.

I was thinking maybe we would learn one or two new tidbits of information but even the little things he mentioned that made you think, "Hey, this may be something new" included a lot of qualifying or disclaimer-based wording.

In the end, it sounded like a segment any Cowboys fan could have made by simply repeating all of the speculated-enough-in-the-media-to-become-fact rumors over the last 5 years.

For example, he mentioned how it bothered McCarthy that people like Moore, Quinn, Zimmer, etc. were positioned to easily take over for him. Well, duh! If your boss at work ever said, "John could be a great leader here" and you are John's boss, it would probably bother you as well.

He said Moore wanted more control over the offense. McCarthy, an offensive coach and the head coach, wanted more say in offensive schemes. Again .. DUH!

The whole "Amari was a bad influence in the locker room" speculation story was published publicly many times after his departure.

This whole segment just seems like a pin-the-blame-on-someone-other-than-Jerry-so-he-will-like-us-again reputation repairing campaign.
