Is it worth paying Osa top dollar when we already have Micah, Dak, and Lamb

Is it worth paying Osa top dollar when we're going to be paying Micah soon, to go along with the top dollar deals we have for Lamb and Dak? Yes we can afford it, but is it worth all this money being tied up in so many players. Is Osa worth the top dollar he'll likely command, or are we better off just drafting his replacement? Please give your thoughts

Depends on demands. There are DTs out there in FA this year who likely won’t demand as much, but tbh we’re probably going to need one of those, Osa, and a DT pick in the first or second round. The cupboard is potentially going to be pretty bare at DL otherwise.

Osa is good and certainly deserves his payday but paying him is a bad fit UNLESS you trade Mazi. Our Dline is screaming for an elite run defender. That's not his strength ( Mazi either ). To pay him for sacks and pressures doesn't do anything to fix the run.

IMO, they should have let any and everyone walk from this dogpile of you know what. Salvage nothing. Think Herschel Walker. If it's too expensive...we'll replace you. I like CeeDee but...why pay him when your QB is a basket case in clutch moments? If it was my dime, I'm only paying the guys in the trenches who are studs. So I like Osa...but he's not a stud against the run and he'll be paid like a 3 down linemen when he's really a situational DT.

No...not paying any of these guys.

I bet he is back. Eberflus likes to have a disruptive DT, and OSA fits perfectly with his one gap system. A Franchise tag of OSA should be around $23M....It gives the Cowboys leverage on a multi year negotiations, and if they cant come to an agreement a 1 year deal like that doesnt hurt Jerry's wallet very much.

Like the guy, but he's not worth a higher contract.

I'm waiting to see what he's going to command, but it's on the FO for not securing him earlier for a reasonable cost.

Can't keep going forward losing role players. He's definitely a guy you want to keep.

What are you going to do instead?

The draft is no guarantee of success and if we don't have a starting 3-tech then it's guaranteed that we have to force that pick because the later you wait to draft one, the lower your odds of success. (I know some believe we can just hit on one in the second or third round, but that's when you end up with a Trysten Hill that you are counting on when he's just a dud.)

I'm actually for transition tagging Odighizuwa. That would mean we pay him around $19 million this year. He is most likely going to draw a contract in free agency paying him an average of around $15 million per season. Then, we can see how the draft falls and try to find his eventual successor because he isn't the stud 3-tech you need in this defense (like a Donald or Chris Jones) just a solid starter. (I'm also for drafting at least two DTs, instead of bringing in journeymen or aging vets who are low cost.)

If we don't retain Odighizuwa, I believe we have to find a free agent replacement at least, and the way the Joneses treat outside FA, it is guaranteed to be a lower-quality player.

I'd go with the transition tag. It saves us around $4 million and gives us the right to match any offer.

Of course it is. Look at the depth chart.
