Signed by Cowboys Cowboys sign OL Saahdiq Charles

Basket case who doesn’t like football. We’ve heard this song before.

Yeah this board is stupid for trashing every minor move. Sometimes guys suprise you. We've taken quite a few swings at potential this offseason. I imagine we hit on one or two.
The problem is that we need nearly all of these long shots to hit, because the team has drafted poorly and sat out free agency over the last couple of years. Taking a shot is fine when you’ve filled out a good roster. Filling a Swiss cheese roster with retired players and rookies and hoping they play well is a ridiculous strategy.

Waletzko has to go.
I'd like to see him moved back to LT and not play RT. He hasn't looked comfortable at RT, even though he was slightly better there this past offseason. Some players have a tough time making that switch, and the shoulder injuries probably made it that much tougher.

I don't expect him to make the roster, but would just like to see what he could do with a healthy preseason just at LT.

Couldn't hurt especially with how much time they have invested in him.

In reality, I don’t think they draft any OL.

OT - Guyton, Steele. Richard’s, Waletzko

OG - Smith, Hoffman. Bass, Thomas, Jones, Charles

OC - Beebe.

Then you have a few guys who have stuck around of they seem to like Shepley, Jack Anderson, Bostick Jr.

I’m still amazed they signed Charles AND Jones and didn’t just opt for Will Hernandez.
I’m surprised about Hernandez as well.

Maybe he’s holding out for more money than Dallas is willing to pay.

Feels to me like this signing - along with Jones - is an opportunity to see what our new offensive line coach can do to develop a few young players.

Nice signing IMO. Don't whine and pretend it is meant to be more than it is. Little to no risk if he doesn't work out. No guarantee he even makes the 53. Potential depth or even a slight chance to be the starter at RG if he does work out. I read some articles from last year and it looks like he was the favorite to start at RG for Tennessee when he surprisingly retired for personal reasons. Why did he retire? What kind of shape is he in physically with a year off and mentally? Well, that's why you get a guy for an easily cuttable low risk vet minimum contract. He's 25 years old. Same age as Hoffman and younger than Bass.

2020 NFL draft: 4th round, 108th pick

Games played: 35
Games started: 18

Notes on last year:

On March 15, 2024, Charles signed a one-year $1.5 million deal with the Tennessee Titans. He was awarded the starting right guard position at the beginning of training camp, but Charles unexpectedly retired from football just a few days later for unknown reasons. The Titans placed him on the reserve/retired list on August 6. On March 12, 2025, it was announced Charles was coming out of retirement. Upon his reinstatement in the NFL, the Titans chose to release him; making him a free agent in the 2025 offseason.
Makes you think there’s more to the retirement

I would bet he was brought in to help evaluate Milton and other skill players during preseason games. He is an NFL caliber guard that can hold his own. You can’t evaluate players in preseason when the offensive is filled with UDFAs who will be delivering mail in October.
