What Non-WR 1st pick would upset you?

Pairing another small DE with Parsons. Micah is a liability vs the run. That’s just a fact. You need size and a guy who can set the edge, get off blocks and make plays in the run game. A guy like Walker or Green or Pearce would really annoy me.

They have the meat and potatoes down I think, tackles need long arms and good footwork,
Speaking of tackles, how do they get a guy like Evan Neal so wrong? Is this a case of going by traits over actual gameplay? His technique is awful.

I know nothing about him.

I'm a casual who only reads, doesn't watch film...

I suspect, assuming your assessment is fair, is that some combine figure has scouts drooling.

Isn't long arms a thing for tackles? Does he have them? What would he have measured that put bad techniques in the shadows?

Could it be techniques that NFL coaches think are easily correctable and not difficult to coach out of him?

I think there have only been 3 DT’s in the top 10 in the last 10 years. This chart has a qualification of a minimum of 15 players/position but out of 18 total top 10 DT’s, 15 were from 2000-2011.

Not suggesting that DT isn’t important. Just adding some context.
Means it’s more of a unicorn when a Mason Graham is there

I agree and I also think it reflects changes in the game.

No doubt the position is growing in priority but it’s difficult to find DT’s who can justify a top 10 in today’s NFL. Can’t be a 1 trick pony and DT’s can be difficult to evaluate.

Their market value for second contract should sky rocket then, no?

Hard to evaluate, no one wants to spend valuable picks on them....

Sounds like the ones that are studs and proven at NFL level should have nice second contract as their should be suitors for them in Free Agency if teams don't want to spend a valuable pick but want a good one

12 is too high for a Guard agreed , but elif elite tackle is available? Steele is a liability
if Banks is there, I'd take Banks (unless Graham is there but doubt it).

I'd put Banks at LT, move Guyton to RT and let him and Steele battle for the start. At worst, Dallas will have decent depth.

Tet at 12 would be upsetting. I could stomach Golden but I’d rather get Williamson from Detroit and look else where with our first pick
Id love Williams . That would really open up the draft for us

I would flip my shift if my team turned the 12th overall pick into a RB or a TE
This is only true if the player picked is an all pro. If the player picked is a QB and not an all pro then someone like Barkley is a better choice.

Jeanty will be twice as productive as Robinson. Drafting Zeke was not the problem. Giving him a second deal was the problem!
Almost all running backs are cooked, or heading down, by the time they're ready for a 2nd contract.

Personally, I want to draft positions like OT and DL, or even WR or CB, where when they're 27 or 28, they're still in their prime, with 4 or 5 good years still ahead of them, where you feel good about giving them a 2nd contract.

For RBs, your basically drafting them for 1 contract and then either losing them to FA, or resigning them to a dangerous deal for declining player. Glad you have a crystal ball with Jeant vs Robinson...despite the fact that Robinson is right there with Sqquon Barkley as the best RB prospects in the past 15 years.

I get it, but this team was much better Zekes rookie year than running with Alf or whoever the year before. Obviously there are a ton of factors and going by an average is probably a better method.

I'd take Jeanty and not look back, in any event.

I don’t agree

Tua Baker Goff Eli Rivers Kyler Ryan Stroud Daniels Luck Stafford Vick Palmer

There have been plenty of QBs taken in the top 10 that had sugnficiant team success on their rookie deals yet didn’t make All-Pro

You also added a PB QB, that can’t be over looked. If you could do the 2016 draft over again with everything you know now, would you still have taken Zeke over the myriad of perennial pro bowl lineman who are still starting today and are only 30?
