What Non-WR 1st pick would upset you?

Pairing another small DE with Parsons. Micah is a liability vs the run. That’s just a fact. You need size and a guy who can set the edge, get off blocks and make plays in the run game. A guy like Walker or Green or Pearce would really annoy me.

They have the meat and potatoes down I think, tackles need long arms and good footwork,
Speaking of tackles, how do they get a guy like Evan Neal so wrong? Is this a case of going by traits over actual gameplay? His technique is awful.

I know nothing about him.

I'm a casual who only reads, doesn't watch film...

I suspect, assuming your assessment is fair, is that some combine figure has scouts drooling.

Isn't long arms a thing for tackles? Does he have them? What would he have measured that put bad techniques in the shadows?

Could it be techniques that NFL coaches think are easily correctable and not difficult to coach out of him?

I think there have only been 3 DT’s in the top 10 in the last 10 years. This chart has a qualification of a minimum of 15 players/position but out of 18 total top 10 DT’s, 15 were from 2000-2011.

Not suggesting that DT isn’t important. Just adding some context.
Means it’s more of a unicorn when a Mason Graham is there

I agree and I also think it reflects changes in the game.

No doubt the position is growing in priority but it’s difficult to find DT’s who can justify a top 10 in today’s NFL. Can’t be a 1 trick pony and DT’s can be difficult to evaluate.

Their market value for second contract should sky rocket then, no?

Hard to evaluate, no one wants to spend valuable picks on them....

Sounds like the ones that are studs and proven at NFL level should have nice second contract as their should be suitors for them in Free Agency if teams don't want to spend a valuable pick but want a good one

12 is too high for a Guard agreed , but elif elite tackle is available? Steele is a liability
if Banks is there, I'd take Banks (unless Graham is there but doubt it).

I'd put Banks at LT, move Guyton to RT and let him and Steele battle for the start. At worst, Dallas will have decent depth.
