Depth Chart, where things stand at OT

Tyler Smith was a below average left tackle during his rookie season and I remember the Rams would putting Aaron Donald over him just to attack him. Don’t get me wrong Smith is our best offensive lineman but the last thing you want to do is put him at left tackle. It would be a disaster for the offensive line as a whole. Guyton would have to be really bad for the Cowboys to mess up the middle of the line with Smith, Bebe, and Booker.
That is not true at all. He was very solid at LT as a rookie. He played some LT last year and the run game instantly got better. Aaron Donald will exploit anyone. Especially a rookie.

How does anyone know the coaching is improved? Reputation does not equal results. If Guyton is “too talented” that would have been apparent last season.
The rookie, slap in the face, is tough on some players. There is no doubt, this kid has the talent. Imagine the change in this kid's life....money, fame, family and friends coming out of the woodwork...that struggle is real. Most won't ever go through that. Could coaches are more than Xs and Os....young and new coaches, normally have a chip on their shoulders, that fire under their azz, alone, will make them better.

Guyton was a primarily a DL in high school just like Cooper Beebe and was switched to the offensive line by TCU. He volunteered to play some TE to help the team. At Oklahoma he played LT originally but switched to RT because his QB was left handed. He only started nine games. They knew when drafting him that it could take a few years for him to fully develop. Watching his training camp footage it was pretty easy to see why they liked him so much. He's got great feet, LT feet.
Yup. He was a NT/DT on a very good Manor team with Tahj Brooks. But he played some goal line TE on the offensive side of the ball to take advantage of his height.
He was only a 3-star prospect because he was way too tall to play NT and didn't play with good pad level or functional strength for his size. So, it was a pure projection to a position he hadn't played in HS.

Here is Gabe Brooks scouting report from 2019:
Very raw technically with no experience at projected college position. Must play with better pad level and bend. Can get stronger and play with more punch power at the point of attack. Intriguing low-floor, high-ceiling offensive tackle prospect who projects to FBS level.

His primary strength is his movement. He is very long and can really move. But he still doesn't play with great pad level. balance or strength for his insane size.

His play at RT was abysmal at OU. He allowed 2 sacks as a part time player than was promoted when the two RT in front of him graduated. His one year as a starter went very poorly and he was graded out below replacement level.

He is a crazy monster of a man at 6'7" and 330 with serious wheels. Unfortunately, he is not an OT. Not yet and maybe not ever. He has no real technique or any killer instinct.
His LT play was the worst by any player who started more than 1 game. And anyone who watched saw exactly that.

I'm still betting on him. Both Texas and Oklahoma are involved in his football development and he was handed a full physical set of tools. He will be taught NFL tendencies and I don't see failure in his mental make-up. Experience on both sides of the ball will grow physical strengths. He is diverse in experience...center of balance and speed directed will enrich his play. He will end discipline shortages. I'm siding with success. His skill will get rock hard with the current staff. They are great trainers and leaders, both.

Guyton is the largest X factor on the OL by far.

He is going to have to lose the starting LT spot to not be there due to draft status and “how we do things here with the Cowboys,” even though Richards may very well be the better player.

I dunno. Two first round guards when your run defense is putrid? Not sure what I should have expected.

I passed away on the operating table but my surgeon wasn’t actually a surgeon…he was an extremely wealthy businessman who “bought himself an occupation.” Seems about right.

Well, it's just my opinion but Mike Mccarthy seemed apprehensive about moving him and whenever asked it seems like BS is also dodging those questions because he probably hoping he doesn't have to...

Hey I'm no expert that was just my opinion whatever they do it should be for the best they literally should have the best 5 out there have I got a hope a lot of hope that this new coaching staff especially at offensive coordinator and the offensive line coach do a good job and they have a really good jump in year two for Guyton and Steele is back to form..
None of us are but I appreciate your point of view

I think fans just don’t get that LT is very hard. Even top guys struggle many times. But I think he was better toward the end of the year abd a full off season and camp should allow him to take the next step. He may never be elite but I think he can be a solid LT

He is both a sophisticated athlete in today's environment and very large and coordinated. He will continue to grow in focus. Naturally he will learn to hit center of mass for contact.

Everything on the online hinges on two things
1. Guyton puts it together in year 2
2. Terrence Steel figures out how to play RT again.

IMO:

LT: Tyler Smith
LG: TJ Bass/Hoffman
C: Beebe/Hoffman
RG: Tyler Booker
RT Terence Steele

Swing OT: Tyler Guyton.
Interior swing: Hoffman
8th man: Asim Richards.
4th interior: Rob Jones

That OL is mid-league at worst.
That’s a god awful heavy price to pay for a swing OT with a first round pick for Guyton.
