Stopping the run is where a defense starts. Forcing teams to pass is key. Dallas still has guys who can get after a QB so put them in 3rd and long and see. Dallas will be in trouble if it still takes 7 to stop the run, but if they mostly need 5 or 6 now they have coverage options and options to rush extra.

lol, teams don’t have to be forced to pass. Most do it more than they run without anyone’s help.

Logically, trading Parsons is the right thing to do. The team will go from bad to worse but be able to clear its cap situation and hopefully be in a good position to jump up in 2 years. Dallas now has a future where I don't really think they did before.

That said, I don't understand those denigrating Parsons. He is one of the best defensive players in the NFL and made a huge impact. Even when he didn't get to the QB he shortened the amount of time they had to throw and tied up blockers to free up other people. The statistics are overwhelmingly in his favor. Dallas is noticeably worse without Micah.

I heard people say stats don't matter.... yet they use stats to draft players, to negotiate and re-negotiate contracts, stats are used to list All- Pro and MVP honors and stats are used to induct players into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

If stats don't matter, which part of the stat usage i listed above isn't true. I'll respectfully wait....

They are worse at getting to the QB.

But watch tape of the Packers, 49ers and Eagles games. Their gameplan was to run directly at him and it took him out of the games

Agree…we can’t keep setting the ceiling for positions. Wish they could have agreed at a lower price last year but today at this price, I’m glad they moved on. However, I do wish they would have gotten a better return.

Another big return from this trade that I haven’t seen mentioned. A number of folks have said they are done with the Cowboys and leaving. This site could use a little herd thinning.

If you look at this deal on paper, it was a bad deal for the Cowboys. Let’s look historically it first round picks. Most first round picks in the NFL are starters. Only about 25% turn into probowl level players. And about 15% are complete flops and never should’ve been picked in any round much less the first round. Desire for the game whatever it might be they just don’t have it. So you’ve got a 25% chance that one of those first two round picks will turn into a pro bowl player for the Cowboys. Parsons was already a proven player, and if he stays healthy, we will probably go down as one of the greatest defensive players in NFL history. He is beyond pro bowl level. He was on a level of his own. If he stays healthy. He is a game changer. He can single-handedly win games for your team. If he starts all 17 games, he’s probably responsible for the equivalent of three wins per year just by himself. Cowboys gave up a game changing player for a couple of potential mysteries. Not a good trade. Funny thing is we had all the leverage. He was locked in for the season. Let him sit. Let him not honor his contract. Then franchise tag of next year. Do you really think a player in his prime like Parsons is going to sit out potentially up to two maybe even three seasons? No he’s going to sign and be on the field. We got ripped off. This is not the Herschel Walker trade revisited. This is a bad deal.

You can make all the comparisons you want to other players and it doesn’t change a thing. Other teams are paying players and every year new “highest paid x, y, z” titles are thrown around.

The prices go up. Always have and always will.

You either suck it up or concede that you’re not serious about winning. Thats really all there is to it.
