I really don't know what to make of this team

I feel like a yo-yo.

We were all using the wrong method when we predicted the Cowboys record.

Look at the automatic-win teams and change half of them to losses.

Look at the no-chance teams and write in a win.

That is much closer to the reality than any rigorous analysis.

Yes, I know Washington was shorthanded offensively, but the Cowboys still stopped the run (not counting QB scrambles), got four sacks, and actually two turnovers.

The Commanders were short a lot of key personnel today to be fair. We deserved the win- we should have won and did.
 
They are a really good team. Dak makes the whole offense run like a machine. And that excellence breeds more excellence. Hence the defense looking much better. The defense will only get better. Bland was brilliant today, as was the whole defense. They will be tougher and tougher to beat. They are only a game back of the Eagles. I think Dak wins a superbowl this year, to go with his MVP.

I mean we've been dealing with our own injuries and had a couple starters out today as well. I mean I don't even know who the heck Trikweze Bridges is, but he was out there playing CB. Diggs was out. Beebe's out. Am I supposed to feel sorry for 3 of their starters being out when we have 2 out, plus all sorts of depth players banged up? No way Booker, Smith and Guyton are 100%. We just had a solid game finally. Daniels looked confused that we changed up our defensive scheme this week.

No don't feel bad...

We seem to give Daniels issues. It was Mariota who bailed them out in Wk 17 (no they didn't need to win).

I'm torn I really am. I think if we get past Denver the team should make a move to possibly get us in the tournament.

If this offense doesn't short circuit 2 or 3x a game: it can score on anybody almost @ will.

You play who comes up on the schedule. Just this season, their defense had been making superstars out of average players and now they are playing much better football. All teams have a bunch of injuries. Dallas had their whole OL out a couple games ago and did not miss a step with their OL backups. Lamb goes out, the offense got better. So injuries are common to every team. In fact, how a team responds to injuries says alot about their character. And Dallas has responded mostly very well, to their injuries. The Commanders have had their troubles this year WITH all their receivers. But until today, their one constant had been their running game. Until today. The fact remains they were in the Chaimpionship game last year and came into this game with a top 3 rushing attack. Which Dallas shut down, until they were up big. So a week after being run all over by the Panthers, they stepped up big time against the run. That is a great response to adversity and the kind of response that is due primarily to coaching. Same players, a week later, totally different results. Finally they are playing man and responding to their failings by adjusting well. They are far more strict with their responsibilities and assignments. I Personally could not ask for more. This is an historic offense, with a defense that is starting to rise to the occasion. Lead by a much maligned quarterback, who is playing sublime football. I can't wait for the rest of the season!

I mean, really good "team". With an historically great offense, incredibly well balanced, with a quarterback playing brilliant football. And a field goal kicker, who is basically the Michael Jordan of field goal kickers. The all time greatest field goal kicker, already! The fans were pissed just a little, that he didn't go for what I think would have been a 70 yarder! So we have the best offense and pretty much the best special teams and a defense that now has a huge chip.on it's shoulder and is only going to get better and better. Bland was awesome today, as was Clowney and everyone else, the whole defense, was sharp. I personally am not worried about the defense. We are 3 plays away from being 6-1. A Lamb catch, a Micah missed tackle from behind etc. And even so, we are a single game out of first place. With all the hair wringing and woes is me articles written about the defense. And that is with new coaching, which always takes time to gel. And many injuries and the loss of a defensive team leader, very dramatically right before the season started. I personally love this team and look forward to them getting monkey off their backs and making many naysayers eat crow.
 
It's fitting that they had a tie. They can really finish the season 8-8 like the Garrett days. Good offense, bad defense, good at home, bad on the road. They'll win the games they know how to win and lose the ones they know how to lose

This defense played a lot better Sunday than it had the week before. Eberflus adjusted to playing more man-to-man defense and it paid off, at least, to some extent. With more players returning, it should actually improve noticeably next Sunday, also. Eberflus even looked happy, for a change.

Better results will likely be what we'll see next week. I'll be willing to see incremental steps, since it took time and injuries for this defense to degenerate so dreadfully. Here's hoping better defense allows this team to perform more acceptably in the days ahead.
