Are fans ready to accept the Micah trade devasted our defense?

I'm quite familiar with how the salary cap works and yes, every team could sign every free agent and make it work provided their agent would be accomodating.

The problem is that at some point, it will become impossible to make it work because of too much dead money and back-loaded contracts.

If you only did that with one player, like your quarterback, then you would be fine. When you start doing it with multiple players it becomes a problem.

Beyond that though, I do not believe any defensive player, including Micah, is worth $40+ million per year in the salary cap era because defensive money needs to be spread around to field a solid team.

There does seem to be progress on D. Baby steps.
 
No telling whether Parsons' trade will work out for Green Bay in the end.

However, as a Packer fan, I can say that without Micah the Packers are at best a 3-3 team (rather than 4-1-1).

To those arguing Parsons' 5.5 sacks (in 6 games) have not made a difference, it is worth considering that GB's other starting Edge Rashan Gary has never before had 10 or more sacks in his 6-year NFL career.

So far this season, Gary also has 5.5 sacks (on pace for 15.5) and had a key sack causing a fumble/turnover yesterday. His production is directly related to Micah getting double teamed and freeing him up.

The trade could well turn out to be a good one for the Cowboys ... but Micah has been everything GB wanted through the first 6 games.

The fact that we're looking at one guy versus opposing OL units compared to an entire defensive front versus OL units only shows Parsons' worth.

Well yall better manage his plays. He gets worn down by December and will become David Copperfield in the playoffs.

And with our 2 CB’s not a 100% recovering from injuries we were leaving our secondary very vulnerable without a pass rush.

Keeping Micah would’ve crippled our team for years. How are you going to pay him with dumb salaries Dak and a few other players have? I’d rather have four draft picks in the first two rounds and see if you hit on one or two of them.

Very true.

Then again, GB has only played one team with a winning record (overall) this season -- Washington (3-4), Cleveland (2-5), Dallas (3-3-1), Cincy (3-4), and Arizona (2-5).

Meaning that Parsons had a sack against the only team currently with a winning record.

Not at all. Great deal. Our problems are with LBs and secondary, not pass rush. Yes, it could be better. Yes, Ez is getting better every week (just graded 4 slots back of Crosby and Watt). With the return of a healthy Bland and Overshawn, regardless of how Diggs plays, the D can get significantly better. To trade for a quality DB or LB would improve it even more. It's anything but a disaster.
 
I find it funny that the guy was treated like a god here for years, and now suddenly he’s “not that great” to some of the fans. lol

Look, I love having the extra picks and the cap space not signing him created (hello, Pickens), but his absence absolutely, 100%, affected this defense.

Some fans get too wrapped up in winning and losing a trade, as if it were a zero sum game.

The Packers are in win now mode and the Cowboys were needing to rebuild. The trade made sense for both parties.

Maybe this move puts the Packers over the top. But keeping Parsons definitely wouldn’t have gotten Dallas the SB.

If it didn’t work out before when he was cheap, what are the chances it would have worked when he was expensive?

100% has affected this defense, but I’ve been on the trade Micah train for at least a year now.

Ultimately I think he’s a great pass rush weapon. THE premier weapon in the league. But not a cornerstone because of longevity issues.

The best time for us to capitalize on his talent was 2022. The FO should have gone all in there, and worried about the cap later.

They were too afraid of cap casualties and ultimately ended up losing one of their prized possessions anyway. How dumb.
