Why couldn't we have Schotty sooner?

I don't have a huge gripe with Schottenheimer, but I also can't sing his praises during a season in which we have 4 wins in 10 games. 4-5-1 is probably fairly reflective of this teams skill level so hes essentially coached this team up to par.

On the flip side though you look at how quick a Sean Payton turns around a Denver team in total cap hell, or how a Vrabel turns around a 4-13 team in one offseason with a roster that I'm not even sure we can name 5 players from without google.

Yeah, I'm not saying he's Jimmy by any means. However, he seems like a coach that knows what he's doing. He's shown me so far this season that he actually understands how to discipline the team in 2025. All in all, I think he's the type of coach that can win a Super Bowl here IF Jerry will actually listen to his plan and vision. That move to trade for Quinnen Williams was different compared to what Jerry normally does. If that was Schotty, then that's a big move.

Too early for me to really form an opinion on him.
Wasn't a fan of the team going with him, but that's in the past.

Thought MM wasn't bad, but he lost his "fire" in Green Bay and sort of coasted here. He should of been fired instead of what the FO "didn't do" for the 2024 season.

Goooood points, but only one thing I want to mention, do those teams have a better management setup than the one we have that allows for them to do what they need to do to be successful

You have been hammering this portion of the schedule all season , while I agree with your overall take on the team, you will be wrong in how poorly you think they will perform over this stretch. Not only that, but Vegas has them as far smaller under dogs than you make it out to be. This team isn’t going anywhere this season but they will significantly out perform this doom and gloom you have been kicking around out here for the entire season.

This team is 4-5-1 with wins against 4 of the worst teams in the league. Home loss to a back up lead Cardinals team. One of the most penalized teams in the league. One of the worst defenses in the league. What the heck is the OP talking about?

By and large, he seems to have the makings of a great HC. I think he's got some flaws, but every coach does. I think he can get a bit too conservative with his play calling at times. However, by and large, he's been good.

To me, it's a shame we DIDN'T have him sooner. Can you imagine him when Dak was earlier in his career compared to Garrett? You mean to tell me 2016-2019 Schotty wouldn't be an upgrade over 2016-2019 Garrett?

I agree with you, wish he would of been the coach during the garrett years. For a first time HC, he checks a lot of boxes for me.

Possibly, but if we are buying into that theory then we need to build a statue of Mike McCarthy outside the stadium for getting us 3 12 win seasons under this front office/ownership :laugh:

If you're a smart def coordinator and cowboys fan you KNEW it was going to be a run, that's what I thought we were doing we were coming out running, we did, but then later found out they were in trouble!!

shotty was accountable, he said that az game was on him.... put the offense in bad situations... my kind of coach.
