Defense has turned around

26 points given up average prior to the Bye.
22 points given up average after the bye.
So Yes....it is an improvement
So quit being an insufferable fan just because Dak played well.
So we gave up more today than prior to the bye and you decide to make this thread now? lol

If we lose 28-27, you would blame the defense for it, but because we win 31-28, the defense is suddenly improved? lolololol

Think about it though.

If we lose 28-24 do you believe this thread exists?

Or do you believe a thread blaming the defense for the loss exists in it's place?

The defense still needs a few more pieces. That’s true.

The defense has turned around though. They were horrific and they’re now “ok”

“Ok” isn’t gonna get us to a Super Bowl but it’s a start for next season.

Yeah.

Honestly, the tide started to turn about four or five games ago when Schottenheimer had his come to Jesus meeting with Eberflus and told him, the team, and the fans that he was going to be sitting in on the defensive unit meetings, which is not typical.

Over the next couple of weeks and on a continuing basis, we saw a reasonable amount of man, the benching of Diggs, we cut Clark and Elam, we traded Mazi.

Accountability, more focus, an obvious schematic shift and a group of beaten down players who believe in themselves again after getting waffle-stomped for half a season.

Add in Q and some players returning from injury and we actually may have the bare bones of a good defense next year.

We might have the weakest group of linebackers in the league, and the DBs as currently built aren’t much better.

Even with an improved defensive line, we’re probably going to be white-knuckling the rest of the season.

IF does not count except when it fits your silly need.

AVERAGES...look it up. The defense has given up less on average since the bye and We won against two teams that last year we would have lost to and I doubt even you can twist your self against that.

Or better yet, quit finding things to whine about and try to bring down positive threads.

Q has made a big diffence.
He is getting help with Clark in the middle.

But Osa is the one really getting the help. For the last few seasons he was about the only
viable 3 tech and would always get worn down in the second half of the season. Still early but I think it is making a difference.

They are finding ways of getting pressure without that Parsons type of pass rusher. EZ, Clowney, Fowler and Williams are making a few plays here and there but Q is the man.

Secondary getting a little healthier helps as well. I think the line play is helping the LBs but the DBs do not look as lost as they were earlier in the season with a hodge podge of backups in the DB corp.
You left out probably the most important defensive player in Mr. Cleanup #0 DeMarvion Overshown.

Just weird timing for this thread, that's all.

I mean...if we lose today this thread doesn't exist.

Because the defense gave up 28 points.
Man, why are you dwelling on the negative ? There was much much more positives from todays play. So much more , but you seem to want to be a Debbie downer. Makes no sense when the team just played balls to the wall and showed a lot of guts. Thats not something weve seen in a long time
