Anyone watching Pluribus? Have actively tried to not get hooked onto a series but this one got me.
Rhea Seehorn is fantastic in it. Just going to hate when it ends.

The wife and I started watching a show on Max called Body Cam: On the Scene. It’s exactly what it sounds like.....bodycam footage of intense police situations, with the involved officer(s) narrating what happened during that event. It’s really gripping. While I’ve always understood that being a police officer is dangerous, watching this show has given me a new perspective on the insane situations they face. We’ve seen so many episodes with people shooting at officers that it’s shocking there are that many reckless people out there. I completely get why they stay vigilant during every interaction, and I have a lot of respect for what they do and the challenges they deal with day to day.

Anyway, if you’re into that kind of thing, I’d definitely recommend the show.

A big point of contention for me is how America has systematically undermined two vital jobs - teachers and law enforcement. We’ve cut funding in both areas and as a result, lowered the quality.

Police officers are grossly underpaid for the risks they take every day. And where I live, more and more police departments are forced to consolidate due to reduced funding, leaving fewer cops trying to cover larger areas. They’re spread too thin.

With police officers, it creates a perpetual loop. You have guys with bad records who instead of finding another profession, bounce from town to town, until they accidentally kill someone, then the town has to pay out a huge settlement.

Netflix is trying to by WB (HBO Max)

Probably my two favorite streamers. I'm sure it means less content overall with less competition which sucks. But I'm interested to see what Netflix can do with some of WB's properties. They have struggled at times.

This is not the cable side with Discovery, CNN, TNT etc. it's the film property side - DC, Harry Potter, Game Thrones, etc. Netflix is now as big as the House of Mouse. LOL

I'm optimistic. Netflix has deep pockets and will spend money to create good content. They didn't buy a lot of the franchises to kill them. I am more concerned about them milking franchises to death like Disney.

It's very hard for me to feel sorry for Hollywood. They act as if their industry shouldn't have to change just like everyone else. Sorry dudes. Movie theaters are vanishing now that we can all buy home theaters for so cheap. They want their smaller indy pieces to thrive, but don't understand the only reason for people to even go to a theater nowadays is for those big budget franchises that can IMAX you to death, or you can cheer with a packed theater as your favorite fictional hero is brought to life.

And don't get me started on the Union. Yes, only a select few truly ever get the money and fame that Hollywood brings, but the rules in place for the production crews are insane. That list of credits at the end is much longer because of union requirements. Quentin Tarantino made a documentary decades ago about his experience filming From Dusk Til Dawn, and it really opened my eyes on how bad the Union rules had become. They filmed it out of California and in the directors commentary were full of lines making fun of how that particular cost saving device they used never could have happened with the Unions involved. Hollywood could produce twice as much as they do right now if there were no Unions.

So yes, we'll get less material with more consolidation, but poor us. We can't be entertained enough. That's hard to feel sorry for too. The one thing I wonder if it will suffer is the HBO material. HBO, like Apple TV, manages to produce a high amount of quality stuff. Whereas Netflix seems to focus more on reality TV, documentaries, foreign licenses, and cheaper horror productions. A lot of HBO's content though is annoying L word productions, but I do wonder if Game of Thrones, Sopranos, etc are possible with Netflix's model. They couldn't even handle The Witcher and managed to turn that intro trash after one season.

Neither is a good choice IMO, but I'd rather Paramount win this bid. WB long list of TV shows and movies needs to be protected for posterity. I think Paramount is more likely to respect that.

I don't. I made fun of Netflix's content above and going for the easy buck, but they still produce better stuff than Paramount which feels like the Star Trek Network. HBOMax, Prime, Netflix and Apple TV is quickly getting there too, always have something great to watch. Can't always say that about Paramount and Peacock.

I respect your thinking, but for me it is not about future content, it's about past content and what might happen to it if Netflix controls it.

BTW, perhaps Paramount is looking to add Warner Brothers in order to boost production of new content.

Landman looks cool - Sam Elliott, Andy Garcia, Billy Bob Thornton. 3 of my favorite actors.

Never found much interest in Tulsa Kings, although I know it's popular. Something about the mafia running Oklahoma didn't sound real.

And all things Yellowstone related. The prequels are better than Yellowstone , IMO.

Yeah. I liked the prequel mini series.
I tried watching Yellow stone before and could not get past the initial soap opera feeling.

I love landman. The dry sarcastic humor cracks me up.

I am a star trek fan but not trekkie level So I like those ones.

Also very underrated show on Paramount + is Mobland. Loved the first season.

Another Dr Who spinoff. They did the Torchwood series before.
This one involves the UNIT section.

Looks just to be a mini series since there are only so many episodes.

If you do not like the british cheese of the Dr Who stuff, you will not like this as Russel T Davis is writing it.

Do not turn this political but if you have issues with pollution ideas, this will not be for you.
