Big Board for Pick 12

McCoy
Well they’d be mine as well except neither will be there or I’d be shocked anyway if they were . I’m thinking if we could luck into styles it would be great
we do this every year. Say someone won’t fall until a team drafts a lineman or a running back we didn’t expect to go top 10.

We shouldnt. If the meds are good and he crushes the combine he will be the best talent available at 12 IMO.
You got any guys that could sneak into the top 10 other then McCoy that nobody is talking about?

Wow….. So before the injury McCoy was trending to be a top 5 pick in this draft even with the possibility of Manning and the other quarterbacks. I can’t see how the Cowboys could pass on McCoy if he is there.
And the thing is he’s healthy enough to be ready for training camp. This is different then Revel.

:laugh:The "Bain has short arms" bit comes back now that the college playoffs are over. Wasn't an easy argument to make while he was making one impact play after another in the playoffs. No DE in recent memory has had a run like Bain just had through the last 6 weeks or so.

Truth is, there are 3 edges at the top of most boards, and odds are all 3 will be gone by the time we pick. Broadas thinks Styles will go early, too, and if he's right, we're probably going to be picking between CBs and OTs. There's always the chance Ty Simpson or some such QB will jump up the boards and go early, but we probably need that and someone to do something like draft a guard or a DT or fall in love with the OTs before we pick if we hope to get one of those top edges or Downs.

Or it could be, that our new DC wants them to go CB regardless, given his background.

If ‘it makes no sense’ to you then it is probably very sensible
I know that you are triggered by being challenged on a stupid post
I get it
So you have absolutely nothing of value other than made up, irrelevant generatlities to back your opinion. I get it

I know some here don't want a trade down on either pick at 12 or20 but what if you trade down and get a couple extra picks that allow you to draft 3 or 4 of a group of these guys i like, CJ Allen, Cassius Howell,Brandon Cisse,Anthony Hil Jr, Dillon Thineman,Keionte Scott. Would this talent lack that terrible compared to say Styles and either of the top 2 corners if you pick at 12 and 20?

Buddy... 2 things can be true

1. Yes - Downs is a stud and one of the best players in the draft

2. We are not in a position to trade up and give up draft picks when we are nowhere near a championship caliber team.

When you are not close you need all the draft picks you can have in the draft.

We are picking at 12 so there will be a very good defensive player available. I hope
Downs is there, but if not, maybe Bailey / McCoy / Reese will be there.
You continue to comment on a general idea that you have and not the specific scenario I brought up which is all I am discussing. Again, in my scenario we give up no picks this year and a mid rounder next year, plus perhaps something else depending on how far up the team would move IF they chose to. That in no way impacts our draft this year other than to move up wit our first pick. And we wouldn't move upon UNLESS we loved Downs (or someone else) AND weren't as interested in other players that would be there at 12 which you can't comment on until the draft begins and you see how it unfolds. Plus we have no idea what we do in FA before the draft.

Dallas needs two defensive day one starters. Trading out might bring more fodder to camp. It is too risky IMO.

All depends on the team's rankings. The problem with most fans as we approach the draft is they assume mock drafts are worth more than the toilet paper they are written on and they rank trading or not on where players fit in mock drafts (for instance player 19 only a drop better than player 20) which just don't match with team's draft boards. Even if a team has guys ranked a couple spots apart, there can still be a massive difference in how they view them or no difference at all. Their 15th highest player may be a future All Pro in their eyes and their 16th may just be a guy they kind of like. If you get on the board at 12 and you like let's say 3 or 4 players just about the same, then taking down 3 or 4 spots can be a smart move if you find the right partner and get value back

If they miss out on Downs. I would like a trade down that gets them the Oregon safety after pick 20.

I would 100% trade down from both picks.

Adding a 2nd and a 3rd or potentially 2 3rd would go a looooooong ways in helping rebuild this defense.

They could get the Oregon safety in this scenario.

One if my favorite players in the class.

Downs is clear cut S1, but if you want someone who can give you true CF duties Thieneman is more proven.
