Darnold > Prescott

He fully deserves blame when he goes into choke mode and doesn’t show up for 3/4 of the game. The defense is out there struggling just like the Rams and Seattle defense were both struggling.
Had Darnold or Stafford pulled a Dak the game wouldn’t have been close. But those were two competitive QBs going at it and performing well. Win or lose they both fought hard.

Great post, no question.

But again, all the Cowboys losses weren't quarterback collapses. Did Dak choke in games before? Absolutely!! But even in games he was very competitive, he didn't get the whole " just got beat by a better quarterback" excuse, im sorry.

All were heard was about HE loss us the game whether its his fault or not. Like I said, im cool with that. So now that I understand that, im staying in the guidelines and judging EVERY quarterback the same way, nobody gets excuses.

Im just trying to abide by what's established.

With that said, Darnold is playing great football right now and the Seahawks are in the Superbowl due to HIS play and the play of his TEAM as well.

We shouldn't be surprised by Darnold playing this well because he was the 3rd overall pick in the 1st round. I just wonder why he wasn't able to lead the Jets, Panthers, 49ers, and Vikings to the Superbowl the way he led the Seahawks. What's different about the Seahawks than all those other teams?

You keep repeating there isn’t a QB that would have gotten Dallas to the SB this year! Like that’s some excuse for Dak. We’re talking body of work with Dak! Not just this year!
When I talk about Lawrence and Darnold and Stafford and Allen. These guys all compete when they get to the playoffs. Dak turns into trash when he gets there. Yes we know it’s a team game but the majority of QBs playing in the playoffs are first round talent and they are a great asset to thier team winning. Unlike Dak who turns into a liability once the Cowboys get to the playoffs.
It’s one thing to lose to another good player but it’s a whole different story when you go into choke mode and don’t compete for 3/4 of a game and don’t help your team by playing field position and possessing the ball.
I dont think that's an excuse. Dak is what he is. But if everyone wants to just focus on Dak, then we still will fall short as that's not the biggest issue nor replacing him with an Elite QB going to get us to the superbowl.

Now I agree that in couple of playoff games he wasn't great. But couple of others defense sucked royally...ala the Rams game when we gave up 270+ yards rushing....couple of QBs this weekend didnt pass that much.

There are multiple issues with Cowboys.

With that said I take a great defense with an average QB 8 days a week.

This is all in service to prop up Dak. You don't have to "bring him up"...it's obvious this the reason for you lowering the bar and using all-time greats who BARELY missed the mark as a measure for Dak ....WHO DOESN'T EVEN GET CLOSE. Even the "scrubs" you try to compare him to are BETTER.

Trent Dilfer was better than Dak. He's got a ring and played composed in the playoffs. He was also a #1 overall pick. You can clown him and say "everyone knows" but FACTS > FEELINGS.

Colin Kaepernick was a more highly touted QB, beat out real competition to take the job away and then BARELY lost a SB. Again, don't put Dak in this conversation. The ONLY WAY you can do this is TO MAKE UP STUFF THAT YOU BELIEVE DAK WOULD DO...not an actual accomplishment. FACTS >>> FEELINGS.

Brad Johnson - better than Dak. Better overall decision maker. Played in a different era of football - not as pass-happy - but still performed when it mattered. Got a ring. Dak can't get out of the divisional round without wetting himself. FACTS > FEELINGS.

Nick Foles - Tom Brady threw for 500 yards and lost to him. Nick Foles had one of the greatest postseason runs in NFL history. Dak...not so much. Statue to Foles outside their stadium...Dak is a statue on Sundays. Advantage to THE WINNER who WON.

If it's a random Sunday and we are playing the Giants, give me Dak. If it's a meaningful game in January, ANY OF THE ABOVE QBS ARE BETTER THAN DAK.

You sound stupid as ****. You led by saying, "this is all in service to prop Dak up".

First of all genius.... I CLEARLY stated that my topic was on quarterbacks who MADE IT TO AND/OR THE WON THE SUPERBOWL.....

I CLEARLY STATED that each of those Superbowl quarterbacks that I've mentioned are BETTER THAN DAK.

I CLEARLY STATED that while discussing quarterbacks who won the Superbowl, DAK'S NAME DOES NOT QUALIFY TO BE IN THE SAME DISCUSSION, so stop bringing up Dak.

I CLEARLY STATED that while discussing quarterbacks who made it to the Superbowl, DAK'S NAME DOES NOT QUALIFY TO BE MENTIONED IN THE SAME DISCUSSION, so again.... stop bringing Dak's name up.

Now Mr. Genius and one of the world's greatest Rhodes Scholars, my question to you IS......

WHICH PART of anything I've already posted props up Dak???

Who you have in the SB? Pats or Seattle, just curious. I think Seattle will win, how about you?
I am biased cause 4 years of college in Mass and then 20 years of Brady and Belichick cheating has made me hate the Patriots. But I think Seattle's defense is just too good for New England. And I have to root for my boy D-Law!!!

You have lost your words for the last three posts of yours. Just some random emojis. Case closed. giggle giggle giggle. OMG.
Goofy lols and snide, evasive remarks and then he runs...
Dilfer played on a team that had all time best defense giving up less than 13
4 poinrs a game. That team won 4 games scoring 2 TDs. Give me thar defense and i win 8 games at my old age.

And based on your facts > feelings then all of the above are better than Marino.

I am not defending Dak but your logic is flawed. You are full of emotion and feelings while pointing to everyone else about their feelings. Ironic
Did he win? You couldn't do what Dilfer did if you tried. At the end of the day, the men who ran that team - Ed Reed, Shannon Sharpe, Ray Lewis - trusted Dilfer. Dak can't be trusted not to give the ball away or give the other team 6 in a playoff or qualifying game. So...you might look at "theatrics" and imagine Dak better...but REALITY says that Dilfer did what Dak CAN'T.

See.... this is the classic post filled with the highest levels of hypocrisy and goalpost moving. I REALLY appreciate you for being an example of what I've been speaking about for the longest time.

Let's break it down....

You started out saying Dilfer and Kaepernick was "carried by their teams, then later bragged on Matthew Stafford as if he wasn't CARRIED by the Rams Superbowl team the year they won the Superbowl despite Stafford leading the league in interceptions.

I will definitely give credit to Stafford THIS season for balling out, but I will not let you forget that Stafford is the same quarterback who has a career record of like 20-75 or something like that vs winning teams.

Then... you said Trevor is getting better and good, "just got beat by a better quarterback". Around here THATS A BS EXCUSE!!! When the Cowboys lost to teams with a better quarterback, shootout or not, Dak got blamed and raked over the coals for the loss whether it was his fault or not.

Lets take another look at what you've just said.... you gave an excuse for a 1st round drafted quarterback losing to a better quarterback..... but place more blame on a 4th round quarterback in the same situation losing to a better quarterback. This is the CLASSIC case of hypocrisy at its finest.

You also mentioned something about "if that were Dak it would be a bad loss and the blame would go on the defense". Well let me remind you of something my friend. There Cowboys had the last ranked defense this season. There isn't a quarterback in the NFL INCLUDING Patrick Mahomes that would have gotten the Cowboys through the playoffs. I guess having the worst defense in the league is an excuse too, huh..... i know.

To wrap this up, I respect the hell out of Darnold for what he's doing this season. Yes... Darnold is having a better season THIS year than Dak, no question. But Darnold hasn't had a better career than Dak and we can compare year to year production if you like.

Yes.... Darnold will be playing in the Superbowl this year because of his play AND because of his TEAM'S play. It takes TEAMS to make it to and win Superbowls, not just a quarterback. The greatest quarterback in the league named Patrick Mahomes didn't make it to the playoffs for a reason and it wasn't because of him.

Its still a TEAM sport.
It's a "TEAM" sport until week 9 and Dak has a good game. Then it's "Dak, Dak, Dak..."...no mention of the all-pro WRs or intergalactic field goal kicker. It's all just Dak. We all know it takes more than a QB, but YOUR QB wanted to be the highest paid which indicates he thinks he doesn't need the help. And yet even his most devoted fan keeps banging on about Dak needing help. It's pretzel logic.

Oh I don't know...it wasn't clear to me. But now that you emptied your clip...seems you have no legs to stand on because we agree.

:)

You never had any legs to stand on because you basically said the same thing that I've said in previous posts..... so that why that whole "prop Dak up" didn't make any sense.

You're not the first person here to consider me saying Dak doesn't qualify to be mentioned when im talking about quarterbacks who appeared in or won Superbowls as "propping Dak up".

Thats alarming....

What do you think Cowboys could do this season with a defense that would give up less than 13 points?

Btw they started with Banks and then to Dilfer... that defense knew they either keep the score low or they are screwed.. i.lived there during that time and everyone was nervous and they wanted the team to make a trade.

Like I said they won 4 games scoring only 2 TDs. Yeah they trusted dilfer. As far as they could throw him. And they wanted to throw him over a bridge onto an oncoming train.

Your head is so far up Dak's arse its funny. You think Dak 365x24x60x60...every second of every day. Its not healthy...your obsession with Dak is worrisome.

Well I don't know who you're referring to, saying its all Dak at the better times.

Im wise enough to know that no quarterback in the league can win anything with a team effort. If that weren't the case, Mahomes wouldn't have missed the playoffs.

Look at Darnold this year. He's balling out on offense ANNNDDD has a number one ranked defense to hold up their end of the bargain.

Now as good as Darnold has been this year, he doesn't make it through the playoffs on this Cowboys team with a LAST ranked defense. Mahomes wouldn't have been able to either with this defense.

So whoever it is that says Dak, Dak, Dak, referring to him as the sole reason when we win, thats not my mindset so I respectfully ask you and other to please not lump me in with those people.

Im a Cowboys fan. I cheer for all of the Cowboys players to do well. Im not one of those who place all the glory on Dak after wins and im also not one of those who place all the blame on Dak when we lose. Im wise enough to know that one player doesn't control the outcome of how 22 to 53 other players perform.

You are deflecting...hey look over there strategy

The question was simple...

If we had a defense that gave up 13 points a game what would Cowboys 2025 season be like?

But hey you are a good dancer. Trying to not answer.dance around. Deflect. Not answer. Stick to initial stupidity... because you know the answer doesn't suit your narrative.

Pull your head out of Dak's arse.. you are obsessed. Not healthy for you.

Like Generic said, his original post didn't have anything to do with Dak. But given you are obsessed you went there because you have nothing else.

Dak gets out of Dallas is the only way he's going to see a SB. IMHO I guess the money is great but if you want the ultimate-request a trade-Dak. Dak on any of these final playoff teams would be in the SB. I bet Payton wish he had Dak this past Sunday.

Wasn't Minny's defense top 5 last year and Seattle's defense is #1 this year. Quite the coincidence aint it. Nothing against Darnold.. but dude had been a turnover machine until these last two playoff games. He has something like 35 over the past two seasons. His defense picked him up a lot. Which is what it's supposed to do. They made it so his turnovers didn't bury them. Unfortunately for most of the last 5-6 years, the Cowboys offense has not had that luxury. If they committed a turnover no matter where it happened on the field it was instant for the other team. Own 5 yard line or opponent's 5 yard line made no difference. The defense has not been interested in stopping anybody after a turnover. Which is frankly a bit depressing.. because we are asking our offense to be perfect.. which no offense has never been and no offense will never be.
Darnild balled out against the Rams

The defense is good.... but their defense gave up, what about 30 points in the NFC CG? Cowboy fans always struggle to give credit where credit is due to other teams QBs. It's OK to say he had a zillion clutch azz throws that game.

10x better than any playoff performance Dak has ever pooped out, against a legit superbowl contender to boot, not so.e scrub 8-9 team.

Not saying he's Joe Montana... but the last 2 years he's been a very good QB

What is Dak better at?
Until this year have you ever heard anyone saying he was better than Dak?

The overall quarterback production that i see listed for the years Darnold was in the league shows Dak was better.

Darnold is just more likely to catch fire and win a SB thN Dak...because Dak is a stats hoo-er and garbage time fiend. He's never going to be horrible, but he'll never lead a team to a Championship either.

Darnold might completely suck every other year, but he isn't a stats hoo-er. He goes for it. He rips it and is far more a "go hig or go home" guy. Dak is more of a "Go Medium and then definitely go Home" kind of guy.

Dak knows what is important to him....and he's played his whole career in a way to ensure he's achieved his top priority....and he's gotten it (100M of Jerry's money, and some dumb commercials)
Sometimes I wonder what fans are actually watching when they compare other teams to the Cowboys. Darnold has the best defense in the conference...#2 behind the Texans league-wide. #1 in ppg allowed (17.2). He hasn't always played within himself...or gone the "risk averse" route like a Jalen Hurts or pre-McCarthy Prescott. But his latest iteration (turnover conscious) can get away with it because of the salty dogs on defense. He couldn't get away with doing that if he had the worst defense in the league dragging him down like boat anchor.

It matters. To think it doesn't is just being silly. QBR-wise, Prescott had a much better year than Darnold. But less sophisticated fans still think that he should've been able to totally erase bad tackle play at both ends and a historically bad defense that set records for futility and dysfunction.

Until this year have you ever heard anyone saying he was better than Dak?

The irony being your assumption that Dak has been better than Darnold without judging it on your own philosophy of it being a team game.

How could anyone compare Darnold playing for truly horrific teams on the Jets and Panthers with Prescott playing on a wet dream for a quarterback in Dallas? Don't forget the defense doesn't matter because you are only assessing the quarterback play and therefore the offense. All those resources the Cowboys have pumped into that offense over the past 10 years to prop up Dak. It's just not a realistic comparison.

The fact that one of the best to ever play quarterback Aaron Rodgers also had a down season at the Jets would strongly suggest to not judge a quarterback at such an organisation.

I laid out the previous stats of what the Vikings were like before and after Darnold played quarterback and what the Seahawks were like beforehand. Again, more evidence to strongly suggest that Darnold is a very good starting quarterback in the NFL who was able to win a shootout against the MVP in an NFC Championship game.

Well, Sam Darnold led the Seattle Seahawks to their franchise 5th NFC Conference finals. Will be his first, which makes him a better QB than Dak Prescott.

Sure, all the stats will be thrown out saying Prescott is but stats are for players contracts.
Fans --which Dallas fans are starving for-- ONLY care about ONE thing....WINS.

Then Dallas fans will say Prescott has more wins that Darnold then I say, the ONLY stats fellow starving Cowboys
care about is (FIRST) getting to a NFC Conference finals, which Prescott, nor Romo, has ever accomplished.

Then Dallas fans could/might say, Seattle has a better team around Darnold.
Then again, I say it is about WINS and if the Seahawks have a better team, which now Demarcus Lawrence plays
for and a ProBowler, then that blame directly on the grocery shopper. He buys the groceries and hired the coaches.

Like Demarcus Ware, Mr. Lawrence and future ( or current) Dallas players must get out of Dallas if they want to even play in a NFC Conference game because Jerry's Pride will never allow this franchise to see another conference finals.
It is a business first and the players knows

So I hope Mr. Lawrence gets a chance to play in a Supwerbowl, maybe win it and down the line, sign his one day contract as a Dallas Cowboy as Mr. Ware did.
If Dak had the best defense in the NFL and not the worst things would be quite different.
