Don't the Cowboys have alot of salary cap space this year? Might as well sign players that make us better and stop worrying about the price tag for once.

Well wouldn't the comps here for both Clowny and Chubb be similar to Tank given their ages and what they bring to the teams So this is the contract that Demarcus Lawrence got last year. I mean it is technically 14 per...

Given the fact that only 18 million is guaranteed they can keep him for two seasons at $9 million a season,

so yeah that be the market in my opinion somebody's going to come in here and say that Chubb is better, I'd say all three of these guys are in a similar spot money wise...

They actually don't the way it sits they're $30 million over the cap, however we all know they can figure out how much money they need, and maneuver the cap, massage the cap etc..

They have a lot of guys they decide whether they're going to keep or release June 1st casualties, Other guys that are just cutting off the team, and any extensions and restructures, plus the new money for the cap increase, should help out.


Whatever they need, that's how they'll go about it ,but no they don't have a lot of money, not as it sits today... I also have very limited draft picks this year, no second no 3rd.

They're going to have to be very creative and smart so, they can't just overpay for fringe type players, I call Tier 2/3, like the guys we're discussing now.

It’s easy to play GM and talk about signing everyone while leaving out the messy math of paying for it.

Clowney was also on the street until the mid September. If you are expecting 8.5 sacks for 6 million you are going to wind up very disappointed

Second contract was the same—he waited, was patient, was willing to play out his final year, and Jerry still gave him exactly what he wanted.

In the world with players knowing this where they sign contracts for earlier or for cheaper that did work back in the day now most of these players who are at this level like the better players the cream of the crop guys I wouldn't say all the elite guys but just the A players the starters they know better than taking the first offer or signing too early and taking less,

They know that game now.. Yes most of them are willing to bet on themselves and even after injured got record deals especially with Jerry he pays his players if they're loyal doesn't matter, if they get injured.

Even players around the league are starting to do this.


Look I get it Everyone going to blame Jerry because he thinks he's always getting fleeced or overpaying because he waited too long, but I still believe that narrative ,while some of it might be true, and it was truer in the past,

it's no longer true,

I don't think they purposely want to pay more money, that doesn't sound like how a guy got to be worth $15 billion.

It's because they're all been brainwashed around here, in social media, saying that there is no real cap ,and that because you massage and push the cap in void years, and play around with restructures, backload deals, and numbers, that there's no such thing and they don't think there's any accountability at all, that you can just spend whatever you want.

That's not true, but yes there are ways to create more money and if they believe they're a couple of these moves away and they want to destroy their cap three years from now ,they can do so, because yes the Eagles and Rams have done it ,with the ridiculous amount of money they pushed into void years ,and dead cap money ,that will come due, then there will be some lean years.

They do have a hard salary cap in the NFL, but most fans believe what they read and they think that every NFL team operates the way the Eagles/ Rams and to an extent the 49ers operate, and that's not true, because the Cowboys actually operate like the other 75% of the NFL where they are bit less aggressive.

Maybe it's just Jerry coming out and saying maybe they're going to do things different this year, maybe they're willing to go a little bit further out on a limb than years past. stay tuned. LOL

Clowney’s contract had incentives that could bring it up to $6 million. I’m guessing he hit them.
 
Unless you have reason to believe Chubb’s health is going to significantly improve he’s not worth going after. He’s not the same game he once was

Chubb missed all of 2024 and came back last year. Played OK. I’m curious if soneone throws a high dollar long term deal at him. He may be better off playing on a one year deal and prove himself.

Say $10 million or less on a 1-year deal?

I wouldn’t be against that.

My bet is that the player is looking for much more.
