Dak tells Pickens to bet on himself

I can guarantee you this—Dallas is not paying that man $37.5 million with Lamb already on the roster at $34 million. It’s not happening. He can seek a trade elsewhere, and in three years find a new deal, because I don’t think the Cowboys will even bother going through with it.
They're going to pay Pickens more than Lamb it is just a question of whether that happens this year or next year. If you don't think Dallas is going to pay him that, then you can't reasonably believe that a team is going to trade for him and give him even more lol.

His cap hit is already ~$9m more than CD.

We should wait and see what happens with AJ Brown and his trade compensation (if that ever happens), then we should ask for more because Pickens is younger and had an amazing season!!

NOT HERE, BOOK IT! I said it already, my gut says if that's his number he will be playing for another team.. I don't believe George will play on the tag, so you can keep giving your opinion,

i'm gonna stick to mine..

See that is where you're wrong, just because They lowered Lambs AAV for the first couple years, It's very heavily back loaded, you still have to pay the piper in backend and void years.

That means you're limited to what you can do back loading new contracts, like George.. It gives you less flexibility.

So again, I'm going to repeat myself, my gut says he will not be here, if that's what he's intending to do, it doesn't matter what Lamb makes this year, lamb just got a nice big bonus check the last 2 years because they prepaid him,

It will come due just because they lowered his AAV doesn't mean anything It's still 34 when you go on full average. It Can and WILL destroy your cap for two receivers 3 years from now making that type of money.

So, you get your opinion I have mine.

Just keep the receipts, come back here when this is actually resolved, not when people are just throwing around opinions,

If this is his number, he will be playing for somebody else, and we know George and we know his agent,

I don't believe they're going to quietly play under the tag, they will hold out and then it will become a mess ,like I said ,get it over with quickly, before the draft, the decision needs to be made,

if it's a big number, he will be gone he will be traded...book it. The Cowboys are gonna benefit either way that's a lot of compensation you can get that's why he's under the tag this is for negotiating we're gonna find out his value here in the next couple of weeks We're going to see the offers everyone's going to have more information to go off of and we'll see where this goes..

Every contract in the NFL is backloaded with void years.

AAV doesn't matter, cap hit does.

I don't know what you think Pickens' number is, but by the time an extension kicks in (next year), the equivalent of CD's contract extension, assuming a $315m salary cap, is ~$41m. Paying $37m would be paying considerably less than CD's rate.

I said, what I said you can't have two receivers on the same team that have back loaded contracts, that money comes due for one position and in my opinion, they're not going to do it..

WHO Cares if every team does it ,

Only all these teams paying two receivers both market setting money, because it it's not happened just because a couple of teams have two receivers with larger contracts none of them have two receivers that would be in the top 5 at receiver pay it it's it doesn't happen because of what we're talking about here and you're not listening the Cowboys are not giving him a new market deal he is not resetting the market nor do I think he's getting top three money..

Yes teams do it with their roster multiple positions different players playing different positions They figure out how far they can stretch the cap and overlap contracts that come and they're OK with it but you can't eat it all up in one position.. And it's just my opinion but I don't see the league doing this most of them barely have a receiver even close to Lamb's abilities let alone two..

We need to Is a quick rebuild on the defense and our defense being better maybe a better left tackle building the team stronger, You don't need two receivers like that like again show me all these teams that are doing just what you're saying at wide receiver.. Or even they have a left and right tackle both making top three money it doesn't typically happen and I don't believe it will..
.

you have to look at all the ones that come due in what year in what position and you have to weigh it all and I'm telling you the Cowboys are not going to pay him top three receiver money it's not happening..

Good day Sir, I said good day...:muttley:

I said, what I said you can't have two receivers on the same team that have back loaded contracts,
Yes you can, very easily.

Teams are building all of their dead cap to hit in the same year so they can rebuild. It doesn't matter if you have dead money if you are going to be bad. It's exactly what Philly has been doing and what Dallas should do to prepare for the post-Dak era.

The cap makes it impossible to be good every year. So load up in short windows and then rebuild. Dallas has been terrible at doing both, because of the idea that you can't pay multiple guys.

They always get Dak at charity events...what's he supposed to say?

Main thing I took from Dak's quote last night is that Dak is about to get Pickens paid. If you thought Burrow forced fed Chase with attempts, Dak is gonna say hold my beer next season.

Jerry can twiddle his thumbs on this contract if he wants, he's going to get all the TV time he wants come next offseason.

This clearly means!!??

I would assume it means play on the tag this year if necessary to get a bonanza deal next year. Having been tagged twice, Dak knows it can happen but Dallas has generally worked out long-term deals whenever it has tagged a player more than once.

And he's a QB it's easier for them from what people are saying in here

Dak, stay out that man's pocket, you got your money.
Actually, this board and many are already in GP's pocket. Dak got enough pick-pockets in his own wallet. To help you out........if you want QBs talking about somebody else's money google Brett Favre/Javon Walker or Donovan McNabb/Brian Westbrook/T.O. Just sayin'........google it.

Dak played on 2 tags which is why we are stuck with the worst QB contract in the NFL. We had to sign him for what he wanted or he could have walked for nothing. Thats the corner Jerry backed himself into.

Tell me how Dak's contract is worse than Desean Watsons, Kyler Murray and Tua, since you believe its the worst QB contract in the NFL.

And Lamb isn’t making $34m or costing $34m against the cap either.

As you alluded to, Lamb’s cap is just above $20m
His total guarantees are 4/$100m

That $136m includes several team option years

Well yes the Cowboys being stupid is also a part of the equation lol.

I just don't really think playing on the tag is the same as betting on yourself.
Well, that is what they call it.

It’s not the same situation.

Prescott is still performing at a high level, and his team isn’t looking for a way out. Sure, some might say he’s overpaid, but haters will hate, especially when other teams have started cutting players, moving on, and eating dead cap.

Look at Russell Wilson—Denver got lucky hitting on their new quarterback, but that kind of gamble doesn’t usually work. They were in cap hell and took the hit. Who trades all those assets for an older quarterback, then immediately hands them a massive contract before they’ve played a single down in that system? The Watson and Wilson deals were terrible, and it’s surprising Cleveland didn’t cut Watson.

Prescott isn’t in the same conversation, in my opinion. He just had a great year, arguably a top-five MVP candidate, maybe higher, and was in the MVP discussion all season. It’s not his fault the defense collapsed week after week, giving up leads as soon as they got them. There are definitely worse deals and situations out there.

Just look at teams like the Vikings, who didn’t keep Sam Darnold—or maybe Daniel Jones was there—and instead went with rookie JJ McCarthy in his second year, who didn’t play very well.

There are other teams that don't even have a quarterback, so yeah, I don't know what the complaints are, who cares how much money he's making other teams have made concessions not that big a difference between 55 and 60 when you're building a team.

It Starts at QB and you need A QB, this is a two-year window, I'm sure Jerry will be moving on from Prescott after the next two seasons.

We will see but big things are going to happen for this whole entire team follow big contracts probably around 28.
