A good chance that something happens. There are a couple of ways to a deal with Miami.
1. Trade 92 for Brooks.
2. Trade 20 for pick 30 and Brooks.

Number 2 would work especially if Miami did not take a receiver at 11.

Yeah I don’t think Brooks will cost as much as people think. He’s an impending free agent that will be 29 this year. There isn’t going to be a long list of teams lining up to give up a top 100 pick for a rental.

Also wouldn’t be surprised if Miami would prefer a ‘27 pick considering how many picks they already have this year

I would like to grab Brooks and still draft a young LB to develop.

A trade for Brooks makes a lot of sense. Just like trading for Pickens last year.

Those highly paid players are what pushes me towards a short-term window.

If we were say the Jets, then I would tell you that trading a pick for a 29yo vet LB is pointless. But if we have a championship caliber offense, helmed by a 33yo QB, and a 32nd ranked defense, then I think it's good team management to sell the future for immediate help on defense.

Ultimately, this team goes as far as Dak does, and I think his window for elite QB play isn't longer than 2 more years. That is the number that would be driving my decision making.

I think Jordyn Brooks would be part of a trade on draft day, the 20th pick for the 30th pick and Jordyn Brooks. With that move, you could select one of the remaining defensive ends, and you'd have Brooks. You'd fill two holes with a single move, and they could do the same with the 12th pick.

I'd probably prefer this trade than to outright trade the 92nd pick. The players in the 20-30 range this year seem pretty similar in talent.
On the profootballnetwork calculator, the difference in value from the 20th pick and the 30th pick equates to an early 3rd rounder. So the value would be greater than the 92nd pick, but in this scenario, the cowboys don't lose a pick in the top 100.

I'd be good with option #2. I don't see a big difference this year between most of the guys ranked at #20 and the guys ranked at #30.

Pick #12 seems like our last chance to grab a top talent who falls, so I would be hesitant to move off of that spot. It's like last year when Tyler Warren fell into our laps.

Pickens was a luxury, and as much as I love the player, his presence didn't make a world of difference from the year before. Brooks is another story, which worries me we will come this close.....you know the drill
