105.3 the fan: Do teams really want Pickens?

The Cowboys can create more money if they want without touching Pickens money. Bland, Ferguson, and Williams restructures can create ~$30 million and don’t require any negotiations. It is just a matter of finding someone worth spending that money to get. No one is really out there right now.

Huh? Honestly, where do you get this stuff from? If they didn't have to pay two 1sts, Pickens would've already had an offer from another team in the 30+ mil/season range. 20 mil is for WRs that aren't top 20.
Ok so you would like to give some guy 5 yr 150m when he’s already 25 and looking to switch teams for whatever reason. I’d rather draft a player.

If Buffalo had any sense they be trying to get him. He'd have 1700 yards with that QB.
Not sure about your math, bro. Dak throws for about 1000 yard more a season than J Allen. Allen's a duel threat runs a lot. How's Pickens getting 1700 yards again?

Absolutely, but that's not the point. Offer him 20 mil/season and he and his agent would laugh at you. That's a huge insult offer.

Unlike the Dallas Cowboys the other 31 teams can understand a talented, young wide receiver not feeling good about being forced to accept playing on the franchise tag. No team will hold his behavior against him. Only a trash organization like the Cowboys can’t appreciate the difference between a player that’s a hostage and one that’s a volunteer.

At a certain point Pickens will be thrilled to play for any other team at lower compensation if need be just to get away from Dallas. Hope he signs the tag 24 hours before game 1, shows up for the first game, dons his uniform, and lies down on a training table during the opening kickoff holding a copy of “Inner Excellence: Train Your Mind for Extraordinary Performance and the Best Possible Life”. Hilarious.
These are pretty strong words for a guy who has only one year of volume to justify paying him elite class money. I can tell you're comparing him to Parson, who had multiple years to show he wasn't a one-hit wonder; he never showed poor character here for four years, etc. The last point about lying on table was that it happened in a preseason game, not an actual game. Parsons was under contract for his fifth-year option, and his sixth year would've been his first tag year. If Pickens acts anything like you say, he answers everyone's questions about character, no questions asked. Guarantee that if he pulls anything close to what you're saying, he isn't doing himself any favors by teams that already op assedon him when seekers put him on the market.

wow what a joke post
acting like this is a good thing for our senile GM
You missed the sarcasm. The joke is that by adding bless his heart at the end it makes an insult a positive. Like saying, you're an idiot, bless your heart. It kinda makes it sound like you're alright even though I just said you were stupid. Not literally you, of course.

Bills just traded for CJ Moore. Why do they now need him more than Dallas does when Buffalo was a 12 win team without Moore or Pickens
Because Dallas isn't doing anything with Pickens where he could make THE difference between a 12 win season and a SB.

Thanks, KSK. It's hard for fans who love their team to see the business side of things.

I don't think people understand just how money hungry these agents are either.

You just gotta get your popcorn out and hope for the best.

And many players completely leave it up to the agent, who's only job is to max out the contract.

we are over paying. It is not that Pickens is not a talented wr. It is that he can go off the rails. We have seen it in Pittsburgh and have seen signs of it here too. No team is going to gamble on a high dollar long term contract on him because of that.
Yup.

Detroit. everyone saw how he played.

off meds.

I looked up his WRs....DJ Moore...Brandin Cooks? Not sure he has many weapons in that regard.

You don't seem willing to look at the other side of the coin. The team controls the player and keeps the player motivated vs giving them a huge contract which then controls the team while the player phones it in. Which we have certainly seen in Dallas.
There isn't anything keeping the team from trading him during the period they control him. At any rate, the replacement doesn't have to cost anywhere near what Pickens would be costing you. It's almost like the league came up with this option for situations where a team has concerns about a player and doesn't want to create a long term commitment.
True but the talent level at WR in this year's is no where Pickens who bye the way wasn't a 1st round picks due to character concerns. I think he has grown up a bit, how much is the $36 million dollar question.

If Pickens is “ too expensive “ to keep why did Dallas unload a 3 for him that’s “ expensive. “ . Sign him and let’s go now Dak has no excuse Offense locked and loaded . The draft and another FA are coming to help the defense . Make a legitimate run at this for once .

i think the only thing that has grown is his ego - hes in such a good position right now if he would sign the tender and say he wants a new deal but that hes excited to play and ready to earn it - he would demonstrate a level of maturity that would help him long term.

Yes yes i get that there is risk and he could get injured....but a 1 year deal of 27 million, plus whatever injury insurance I am sure he has (and his prior earnings) should have him set for life financially IF the absolute worst happened which isn't likely.

Exactly what have the Dallas Cowboys proved to George Pickens? What have they ever done in his lifetime for him to care about the team? For him to be confident it’s where he wants to continue his career? Perhaps if Jerry Jones would demonstrate a level of capability building a bonafide competitive roster, Pickens would be anxious to be a Cowboys player. Perhaps if Jerry Jones demonstrated enough respect for George Pickens by being professional enough to do business with his representation he’d be excited about being a member of the Cowboys.

Pickens doesn’t know everything, but you can bet he knows he does not have 30 years of playing in the NFL ahead of him. This close to traditional free agency, perhaps he’s decided to do just enough to get whatever the franchise tag guarantees him and bide his time until he can escape the Cowboys organization.

Exactly. That what lead to the 'QBflation' that had Dak break the market. Seattle's GM had to reinvent team building on account of the slick agents and Dak's record setting deal.
