Only 14 months ago, Myles Garrett made a public push to be traded by the Browns. In response, the Browns did what the Browns usually do with any problem they encounter.

They threw money at it.

A market-level contract ($40 million per year) moved the boiling pot to a back burner. There’s still reason to think it could be simmering.

The truth on Garrett and the Browns is elusive. On one hand, G.M. Andrew Berry continues to call Garrett a “career Brown.” On the other hand, Garrett seems to be ready to give up a $1 million workout bonus by skipping the team’s offseason program.

Then there’s the recent contract modification, which delays the deadline for Garrett’s offseason option bonuses from the 15th day of the league year in March until seven days before the start of the regular season. Obviously, that allows the Browns to trade Garrett without paying the option bonus.

I’ve already heard rumors about a potential draft day trade with Cleveland. It was mentioned as picks 12 and 20 for picks 6 and 39.

This got me thinking of something.

What about 12 and 20 - and next year’s remaining 1st rounder - for #6 and Myles Garrett?

You could get a top player for the secondary at #6 (Downs, Delane) AND shore up your pass rush with the best in the business.

The downside is that you’d be out of next year’s 1st round, which is being regarded as one of the very best in recent years.

Cleveland would be adding three 1st round picks over the next two years for their rebuild.

What say you?

Mixed feelings on this, but my gut says Garrett needs to be younger for me to pull the trigger. It's an interesting deal, I wouldn't be upset if it could actually go down like this.
It’s definitely a ‘win-now’ type of move. If they think they can win a Championship in the current window, with this quarterback, it makes sense.

We need a good, dependable Linebacker more than another edge rusher, IMO.
I’d call Miami about Brooks for my 3rd rounder.

So Garrett is 30, and the Miami DE (not Bain) is 25, and has been mentioned as someone we'd draft... if that's the case, I'm good with it. Plus there is a chance we could get back a 2nd next year later in the draft.

No way I would give up next years 1st rounder.
Unless you feel you can get to the SB this year. I don’t see that.

12 and 20 for 6 and 39. I don’t like thst either.
Now throw in Garrett. And a 2027 3rs conditional to a 2nd.
Now very possible. Or even conditional to. A 1st if a SB.

3rd to a 2md for a SB appearance. 3rd to a1st for a SB win.

I will be told that is a stretch. But it is my stretch.

It's being said on line that Pittsburgh rejected our 3rd for Queen

If we ever got to the Superbowl people on here would complain about how long it took or anything else they could mention to take away from making it there

He'd cost both 1st rounders.
A Jerry move like when signing Deion away from the 9ers so many years back.
Its just Deion cost a boat load of money not draft picks.
Garrett would cost both.
It's also just that that 90s team was relatively stacked and Deion was a missing piece to get over the top type acquisition.
So could Myles Garrett have that type of impact to the current roster?
If so, go get him.
If not, keep the picks.

The browns should be trading him to acquire more picks, they are rebuilding. No reason for him to stay other than fill seats

We weren't one player away when we traded Micah and we are basically in the same situation.

We need Quality and Quantity......not a single elite player that takes up the salary of 3 above average ones.

This is a move better suited to the top 10 teams in the league

......and the Browns fans show up no matter what. The only thing that changes is if they wear brown bags on their heads or not.

Good fans

I'd be really excited by that trade...... especially if I was a Browns fan. It would be a SB win or bust for Dallas.

What’s your opinion?

Does Myles Garrett, Caleb Downs (at #6), and LB Jordyn Brooks do enough to make the 2026 Dallas Cowboys a Super Bowl contender?

It certainly does for me.

The real trick is massaging the salary cap to keep it together (including an obvious contract extension for Brooks).

But I’d make this deal all day long.

The only guy I want on the wrong side of thirty who is holding out while already in the middle of a lucrative contract is … Zack Martin.

Anyone else is a man of low character and makes Tom Landry.

As to football, no way. The price will be two number ones and more

And I think if they did, they’d quickly have the ammo to do it.

What about adding the trifecta of Garrett, Downs (at #6), and trading pick 92 for LB Jordyn Brooks.

There’s the top of your draft gone, but you’ve added 3 top players to glaring positions of need.

I have to think it instantly gives us a good enough defense to be a Super Bowl contender.

That combination of players acquired?
All day long, Stash. I'd be all in on that.
AND I would publicly compliment Jerry for making this type of move.
REGARDLESS if they did not win the trophy.
At the very least I could finally and legitimately say Jerry did in fact go all in on attempting to win a championship.
That's so much better than passing off annual lies while never actually trying.

Yeah, but they’d be forced to find a slot corner or another corner. I get the whole BPA approach, but taking Caleb Downs at 6 doesn’t make sense when the safety room is already solid.

Sure, he could maybe play some outside linebacker in certain packages and rush the passer, kind of like a hybrid role Woody had, but that still leaves a hole at cornerback.

We basically gave up all our draft picks and still didn’t address that need, so I’m not a fan. I know the argument will be that BPA trumps positional needs, and Downs is supposed to be next-level, but what if he isn’t? Or what if we overload at safety and still have no true slot corner? They’ve got a few guys who could maybe fill in, but we’ve seen how that can go—you have to be really good to make it work.

Garrett might help, and maybe Brooks can keep quarterbacks from getting the ball out too quickly, but if our DBs can’t cover consistently, it won’t matter. We saw it against Green Bay—Parsons said if they hadn’t gotten the ball out fast, he would’ve gotten there, but that’s the point.

Some teams can neutralize your pass rush, and if you can’t cover, they’ll carve you up.

So this is nice banter but I'm not sure that's the Cowboys targeting that particular player so I think I guess they have two weeks to decide something like this on who they would take if they did this but I'm thinking we need some way of obtaining some corners because one we know two of them came off injuries matter of fact the whole corner backroom the last two seasons have been mostly hurt the same players are here Butler Carson Bland and Revel.. And I know they signed these other guys R for depth maybe one can help but I'm thinking they need a another starter...

I'm not sure what that Indianapolis corner I know he's a little older he can play the slot what are they asking for him in return and there was some talk about it I can't remember his name but I know his thing is playing inside and nickel..
