Mixed signals continue as to whether Myles Garrett could be traded

I will take Browns 6 and 39 for our 12 and 20. The reason is that at 6, we could potentially land Styles, Bains, Downs, maybe Bailey. But it is likely we don't have those as our options when we pick at 12. For 20, It is already a second rounder. 20 seems to be much better than 39 but actually they are all seconder round choices.

Yeah, but they’d be forced to find a slot corner or another corner. I get the whole BPA approach, but taking Caleb Downs at 6 doesn’t make sense when the safety room is already solid.

Sure, he could maybe play some outside linebacker in certain packages and rush the passer, kind of like a hybrid role Woody had, but that still leaves a hole at cornerback.

We basically gave up all our draft picks and still didn’t address that need, so I’m not a fan. I know the argument will be that BPA trumps positional needs, and Downs is supposed to be next-level, but what if he isn’t? Or what if we overload at safety and still have no true slot corner? They’ve got a few guys who could maybe fill in, but we’ve seen how that can go—you have to be really good to make it work.

Garrett might help, and maybe Brooks can keep quarterbacks from getting the ball out too quickly, but if our DBs can’t cover consistently, it won’t matter. We saw it against Green Bay—Parsons said if they hadn’t gotten the ball out fast, he would’ve gotten there, but that’s the point.

Some teams can neutralize your pass rush, and if you can’t cover, they’ll carve you up.

So this is nice banter but I'm not sure that's the Cowboys targeting that particular player so I think I guess they have two weeks to decide something like this on who they would take if they did this but I'm thinking we need some way of obtaining some corners because one we know two of them came off injuries matter of fact the whole corner backroom the last two seasons have been mostly hurt the same players are here Butler Carson Bland and Revel.. And I know they signed these other guys R for depth maybe one can help but I'm thinking they need a another starter...

I'm not sure what that Indianapolis corner I know he's a little older he can play the slot what are they asking for him in return and there was some talk about it I can't remember his name but I know his thing is playing inside and nickel..
“Garrett might help”.

Why would Browns do it is the question….

I'd be really excited by that trade...... especially if I was a Browns fan. It would be a SB win or bust for Dallas.
I wouldn't. That's not good value for them at all. You're only swapping #1s this year to your detriment (#6 to #12 and gaining #20) and with Garrett making this team a little better, the #1 next year would "probably" be in the mid 20s. So essentially you're trading Garrett for two 1st rounders minus the position you're already in. I'd demand more or no deal.

We weren't one player away when we traded Micah and we are basically in the same situation.

We need Quality and Quantity......not a single elite player that takes up the salary of 3 above average ones.

This is a move better suited to the top 10 teams in the league
in this scenario we’d be getting two impact players. also “not one player away” is one of the most pointless tropes there is

Only 14 months ago, Myles Garrett made a public push to be traded by the Browns. In response, the Browns did what the Browns usually do with any problem they encounter.

They threw money at it.

A market-level contract ($40 million per year) moved the boiling pot to a back burner. There’s still reason to think it could be simmering.

The truth on Garrett and the Browns is elusive. On one hand, G.M. Andrew Berry continues to call Garrett a “career Brown.” On the other hand, Garrett seems to be ready to give up a $1 million workout bonus by skipping the team’s offseason program.

Then there’s the recent contract modification, which delays the deadline for Garrett’s offseason option bonuses from the 15th day of the league year in March until seven days before the start of the regular season. Obviously, that allows the Browns to trade Garrett without paying the option bonus.

I’ve already heard rumors about a potential draft day trade with Cleveland. It was mentioned as picks 12 and 20 for picks 6 and 39.

This got me thinking of something.

What about 12 and 20 - and next year’s remaining 1st rounder - for #6 and Myles Garrett?

You could get a top player for the secondary at #6 (Downs, Delane) AND shore up your pass rush with the best in the business.

The downside is that you’d be out of next year’s 1st round, which is being regarded as one of the very best in recent years.

Cleveland would be adding three 1st round picks over the next two years for their rebuild.

What say you?
I don't dislike the idea. But if they wanted a high paid edge rusher, why didn't they just get Hendrickson while the Ravens were messing around with Crosby? Then Dallas gets to keep both first round picks this year and not worry about drafting at that position. Like I said, even though I like what you put forth, but if they did that now I'd have to say it's gross mismanagement of resources.

Garrett and pick 6 is not one player.

I think Myles Garrett is a much better player than Hendrickson.

3 first rounders seeks excessive he’s worth it to a few teams. If he wants was 2 years younger I’d be for it.
It’s not three first rounders for Garrett.

It’s three first rounders for Garrett and pick #6 this year. Which is a trade up.

It allows the Browns to say they now have 5 first round picks over the next two drafts, but it’s not even two total 1st round picks.

That's right.

I think the Browns would just say we'll take 12 and 20 and you can have Garrett. As great as Garrett is, he alone won't fix this defense and its hard to think about giving up 2 1st rounders for a 31 year old player. We wouldn't do it for Crosby who is a couple years younger so can't see them making that move for Garrett either.
