Its not that nobody is interested, but its the same as Aubrey. Nobody is interested in giving up that high of a pick, AND having to get a guy that is not signing unless he gets a huge deal. Thats too much of a price to pay for a non qb.

I think its a lie that nobody wants Pickens....There are 31 other teams that would take Pickens for the right price. If no one wants Pickens then last years trade was a major overpay given that his value was at a low point.

The no one wants Pickens narrative is Stephen Jones trying to negotiate through the media instead of actually talking with the players agent. It's the same mistake they make year after year that results in training camp drama.....great for headlines....bad for football.

We know it was an overpay. Jerry always over pays than he brags about it. He brags about over paying for the cowboys, he bragged about over paying zeke and dak. Remember Joey Galloway. He bragged about over paying for him with two first round picks. While at the same time he bragged about passing on moss.

Not really true. When the Cowboys gave Pickens the franchise tag they designated it as the”Non-Exclusive” tag.

That meant that Pickens could be looked at by other teams and offers could be made. If Pickens agreed to sign elsewhere, the Cowboys had the right to match the offer, or receive two first-round draft picks as compensation.

No team was going to give up two first round picks for Pickens. It was never going to happen…by design.

I agree except I’m not convinced the Cowboys would insist on two 1sts. I believe there is a price the Cowboys would entertain below two 1sts, whether picks or picks/players. But that’s just speculation on my part.

Stephen’s comment was disingenuous because teams wouldn’t call the Cowboys until they have an understanding of Pickens asking price as that would likely influence their offer of compensation.

I highly doubt Mulugheta hasn’t been working the phones. If it’s true that no team has called the Cowboys, it’s more likely either a reflection of Pickens asking price on top of trade compensation or a lack of urgency as the deadline is still 3 months away.

Then, with tail tucked between their legs, Pickens and Mulughta will bend the knee and take whatever jerry is offering........and be appreciative of the generosity shown.

Yup. He was not good as HC in CHI, that is true, but most coordinators don't make good HCs. It's a completely different job. Eber is a top 8-15 DC in the NFL. The horrific D is on Jerry.

Actually I’m pleased with the decision. And hope it spurs a trade. Even if it’s as low as the3rd rounder we gave up for him. We can use it for another WR.

You don't sell a trade by making a negative comment that infers their is no league interest in him. SJ should have lied to the media and played it closer to the vest. He could have easily said something like : "We are thrilled that Pickens will be a Dallas Cowboy next year. We feel we have 2 of the best WRs in the NFL. In regard to trading him, we know there is interest and all options are on the table. "

Eberflus' best defense in Indianapolis ranked 11th overall back in 2018.

In Chicago his defense ranked last in points allowed in 2022. In 2024, the Bears ranked 9th in expected yards per play from weeks 1 thru 9. Then Eberflus took over as defensive playcaller (while head coach there) and they plummeted to 27th. Then the Cowboys hired him and we know how that went.

This means the absolute best defenses Eberflus ever oversaw were "okay". I understand players are at the heart of every problem, but I know Bears fans that were laughing out loud at me when the Cowboys hired Eberflus. It didn't take long to see why.

So yes, the players should shoulder the blame. You are right. But defending Eberflus and his scheme is just as ridiculous. He's been terrible the past few years on completely different teams.
