I'm not sure.
Im not the biggest Lawrence supporter either.

But now that Ive looked at the 2025 highlights of this Winters guy actually looks promising.
I'll throw some cautious optimism that he's a step in the right direction for the second level of the defense.

Me either. I knew Winters had taken over a lot of Warner's snaps last year. Saw him a few games. That's a lot to ask of a guy that hasn't played top much. I am pretty sure he got some valuable experience even if he isn't obviously Fred Warner. Not many are. I'm hopeful he'll be at least a quality rotation guy unlike Murray who was basically "nobody" on the field.

Trust me I'm as linebacker critical as they come brother but at least this Winters kid's '25 highlights show some legit promise to actually help the 2nd level of the defense.
The Michigan kid not so much but I had not paid attention/was unfamiliar with the Winters guy and after watching some of his film now there is some legit potential that he's a step in the right linebacker direction.

I think I trust guys who have played LB'er for the 49'ers more than most other teams if the players moves to our team. They seem to do a pretty good job with getting guys to play that position better than average. So I'll be cautiously optimistic as well.

Same here. I was fully aware of that Warner and Greenlaw duo in their prime roaming siding to sideline. I guess when Greenlaw left I didn't pay as much attention to Winters as maybe I should. He actually looks pretty good.
And you're right, this kinda guy supports your opinion on the 49ers history of developing linebackers pretty well. I totally agree with ya.

I think our hope will just be that he is Night/Day compared to Murray. Not sure how much that is saying but I'll take it.
 
According to the 49ers GM........the Cowboys started asking about Winters during the Osa trade. I guess this is what Scotty was talking about, they had a great plan LBer. It appears Styles was their priority and Winters was a fallback option.

His coverage grade was 62.0 which was 30th amongst LBs last year. Decent in coverage..not great.
 
Watched some tape/highlights. Not saying much but everything I've seen was a zillion x's better than anything the 2025 Cowboys LB'ers offered. Sad.

Seems like a CP guy. I’m just waking up so my brain (coffee) hasn’t kicked in but I’m good with this. Would be happy with a few more. Mainly because I just don’t trust Overshown to stay on the field.
