It was a very good smart move. Got draft picks for players not in their long term plans. Not knocking Spurs I’m just not belittling it as a simple tank. It was smart and calculated .

You're choosing to ignore the games that Bagley and Middleton went off. You post stats, but choose to ignore the ones that matter.
The Bulls game Cooper got hurt, but the huge problem was that the Bulls weren't ethically tanking like the Mavs. They were blatantly tanking

Edit: Problem though is that the Bulls were rewarded for it and the Mavs weren't. Also, the Mavs didn't have to get that point with the 4-5 games they won when Middleton and Magley went off. That was also a huge problem

In essence, it shows what happens when a team has a good FO in place and when one doesn't. This of course isn't the fault of the current FO for the Mavs, but it still shows how much the previous FO along with the ownership caused a lot of problems. Hopefully the new FO will move forward and get the Mavs back into contention

You’ve been saying for 5 days we should’ve lost the Chicago game. What else could they have done to lose it? Two teams tank one has to lose…

Not even top 5 but I do like what Wiz

I said they should have lost at least 2-3 more games. The Middleton and Bagley games where they went off were the main ones. They also had no business beating the Lakers even w/o Luka and Reeves.

Winning those 2-3 extra games more than likely cost them a top 1-4 pick

Funny thing is that the Kings were ethically tanking and it cost them. Jazz were 100% blatantly tanking and moved past the Kings.
I think the new rules regarding tanking should help a lot, just not sure to what degree. Guess we will find out going into next year.

Wiz also played it somewhat smart. The AD and Trey trade were all about preparing for the draft. They got both AD and Trey and they never played a single game for them. Plus they unloaded some vets who could score enough to win them some games.
