News: Fox: Tony Romo arrested in Milwaukee for OWI

Pretty funny lol. Can’t even blame him this whole thing tired me out just watching lol…at this point he’s probably like just take me to jail I’d probably get out faster…
I agree. If I had Romo’s money and was already set for life. I would probably just tell the cops. “Charge me with whatever you’re gonna charge me with and I’ll let my lawyer handle it from there, let’s just get this over with”

Seek help for what? You don’t know if he has a drinking problem or not or if it was one lapse of judgement. And I’m not defending drinking and driving
If he is "stepping back," potentially, it is to deal with "stuff". I don't think it would be for a hangnail

We have 30 pages of people that never knew the details.

Are you suggesting innocent people shouldn't call their lawyer?
He wasn't arrested at the time he grabbed his cell phone, and he was told several times to put the phone down, and he refused to do so immediately...that does nothing but bring up more suspicion

Yes, drunk driving is reckless. Nobody is arguing that. But it’s interesting how quickly people discover a passion for “personal responsibility” when it’s a behavior they already dislike.

Apparently, selfishness only counts when someone has a drink in their hand. Texting while driving? Speeding because you’re in a hurry? Driving exhausted? Ignoring safety rules because “it’ll probably be fine”? Those are somehow different because they’re more socially acceptable.

The reality is that plenty of people make choices every day that put themselves and others at risk—they just don’t like admitting that their own habits can have consequences too. It’s easy to stand on a moral soapbox when you’re judging someone else. It’s harder to look at the risks you personally create.

So yes, hold drunk drivers accountable. But let’s not pretend this is the only form of selfish behavior on the road or in society. A little self-awareness would go a long way.
How did you get any of that from what I posted? Okay.

Also, FWIW, he looked much less drunk in the most recently released video. That first photo made me think he'd have been stumbling around. In any case, hopefully it all turns out for the best.

:lmao2:This followed by you talking about, and insinuating he was drunk, it when you don’t know all the details. :lmao:
Actually, if you put your ignorance and slander of what I have said in this thread, you wouldn't have wasted the 3 brain cells you have to type a ridiculous response like this... but this is YOU. I won't even try to explain things to you, because you are here for one thing, and that is to AGAIN look foolish. So, congrats once again

You don't know any more of the details but you want to crucify the dude. He apparently passed a car improperly....hardly sounds like he was a menace on the road. At the start, neither one of them could hear each other clearly due to the noise on the roadway. He was polite, answered all her questions, cooperated with field tests. Lawyers always tell you not to do the breathalyzer because it is a faulty test. I am willing to bet that the case gets dismissed. Nothing in the video suggests he was impaired. And one beer will you put alcohol on your breath....doesn't make you impaired.
Try not to pull a Rockport and not read all my posts in this thread before assuming you think what I have said.....each point you suggest, I have backed up with my same thoughts.

He was calling his attorney.

Rich people are told what to do.

He was wise.
and....he was told to put the phone away...but he didn't. Thus, my point you don't seem to understand either. By the way, he eventually did put it away and was 100% civil with the cop. Oh, if only I have said this already. Oh wait, I did.....

Agree, the first snippet that was released, I didn't think looked very good. The longer ones I thought he seemed better and maybe was actually okay.

Of course it's impossible to really know from here, but I'm more sympathetic to him after seeing the longer cuts.

It's going to be fascinating to see what the results of the blood draw are. Smart to refuse the pbt since it at least buys time before they get a warrant for the blood draw.

To me this looks like a situation where a young cop was looking for a reason to do her job and jumped on the opportunity to pull over a vehicle for a minor and common infraction just because she could. Things escalated from there. At one point she decided Romo had been drinking and at that point his fate was sealed regardless of how he performed on any of the tests. The arresting cop came across as inexperienced and I thought she handled her business poorly. The other cop who got involved towards the end handled his business with much more tact and grace.

Whether Romo was drunk or not I don't know. He certainly didn't appear to be to me. The blood test will tell the tale. I predict case dismissed but that is pure speculation.

I can say for an absolute fact that assuming every cop is a "highly trained" professional and always acting as such is as naive as it gets.

I completely respect LE and the job they have to do.
On post I agree I don't think she was highly trained at all and like you say once she decided he had been drinking she was following it through to the end and it was going to end badly for him.

she immediately took him being at the golf course automatically making him guilty of drinking I knew things were going in a bad direction

All we can hope is that the blood comes back good that would really be a nice ending to this story and could save him his job with CBS.

There are literally hundreds of people on the NFL reddit right now commenting about this. from different fan bases, all saying these videos make Romo seem likable, and he was polite to the cop, not belligerent or rude.

What exactly are you seeing?
The stretching was odd and how about going right to the lawyer. Being difficult about the testing. Invoking grampa and grandmas house.

Yes I have to admit I don't drink have never driven drunk but I have driven when I was overly tired and should have pulled over.

And in my opinion that's probably just as bad but considered more socially acceptable if you nod off behind the wheel you become an unguided missile and put everyone at risk.

I don't think he put it away I thought he put it on the back of his vehicle to video the encounter
I need clarification I don't think he was told to put the phone away I think he was told to exit the vehicle and he was trying to call his lawyer on the phone in the vehicle and did not exit when he was instructed

I believe that was the problem because he exited the vehicle with the phone he didn't put it away

I never said he was being arrested.

I took a USCCA class. When you deploy deadly force inside your home...They tell people call 911...1st...then your lawyer immediately. You've not been arrested yet. Don't say anything else. At this point, most LE is NOT your friend. They will arrest you. And record anything you say.

I would think LE would allow that call if you are otherwise being co-operative. I'd also have my license registration proof of insurance handed over. Not sure if that happened yet.

Calling a lawyer shouldn't bring up any more suspician. Hands are up, window down. I know LE has to be very vigilant and cautious...but you make it sound like they MEANT to look for something...more suspicious. Fine...it is what it is.

LOL, you said it sounds like he was driving dangerously. THat is an assumption. You said she must have smelled alcohol. That's an assumption.

And if a cop asked me to get out of the car for field sobriety tests....I would probably want a lawyer's advice too. Those are very much in favor of the police. Nobody impaired is going to be able to stand on one foot for 20 seconds like he did.

They absolutely can

breathalyzers can give false positives. They are hard to beat even if they are not calibrated or the officer fails to follow all of the requiired steps, but they can be successfully challenged
That's not what I said. The eye tests specifically cannot be faked.

The eye test? Like if someone has been crying all day because something bad happened, and then they had an allergy attack, and then drive a few hours through wild fire smoke, the eyes would be different than if someone had a few beers?
Jesus people, do some homework. When you are impaired from drugs or alcohol, they can tell by tests they give. Pupils and ability to follow. This isn't hard.
