Signed by Cowboys Cowboys & Von Miller have agreed to terms - 1-year, $5.5M deal

Who made you thread monitor?

It shows that his sack numbers are overly reliant on that one game. If he had 5.5 sacks on the season, nobody is crowing about it.

Likely because it destroys your argument.

I am? Seriously, pot meet kettle.

I’m not dismissing Clowney. I’m just putting his sack numbers in perspective.
You win. It's clear you are arguing to win, not to discuss facts. Just take a step back and look at both of their entire bodies of work last year (see below: you seem to now even forget you were the one to say last year "thread monitor") and see what you think. Matters not to me enough to continue with the back and forth or to hear your response. I'm happy with the move and that's what matters

Von Miller was better last year.

I still think people have no idea what Dallas was paying some guys last year lol. By cap hit in 2025:

Donovan Wilson - $8.5m
Kenneth Murray - $7.5m
Dante Fowler - $6m
Dallas is kind of weird in that respect. It will pay more to its own guys and guys it trades for, but is generally stingy to outside free agents.

Signing Fowler was a bit of a departure from their normal level of FA spending. Signing Thompson this year was a big departure from it. Everyone else up until now has been typical. We have a couple of one-year, $4 million FAs but this is the only one for more than that other than Thompson.

On that we can agree.

I’m happy with the move as well.

I don’t think you can make a blanket statement about “outside free agents”. Certainly not when it comes to a Hall of Fame player.

Prices usually go down for older players. But the 9 sacks certainly helped.
I think it's kind of like Fowler. He had a good year, so his price should have been higher. Fowler had a bad year so he only got a $2.5 million deal this year. Miller's deal is pretty much what Clowney got, so I guess that is the market value right now.

Is it? I thought Clowney got $8 million from Houston?

Edit: No, you’re right. Clowney got $5.5 from the Texans.

Dallas has been treating outside free agents the same way since 2013. They generally hand them one-year, cheap deals.

I think Fowler's one-year deal last year was the highest that we had paid an outside FA since then and that's only because market value has increased. I actually did think we had caved with Miller and he'd get more than that, but I think Clowney kind of set the bar this year at $5.5 million.

Clowney was really good last year. Fingers crossed we get something close out of Miller, but it is indeed a big ask. Possible though...
Do yall dudes even know what you’re talking about? Miller had more sacks last year than Clowney

I absolutely detest signing older players when the spot can be given to a young talent. If we are on the edge of a SB...that's different.

If he plays like Clowney did last year...it's worth it. If he's here to train Malachi Lawrence on pass rush moves and give him in-game advice...OK. Other than that, I hate Jerry being used as a 401k for older players.

He put up decent numbers last year. If he gets half the sacks and pressures, it’s still worth the roster spot, imo.

This is a solid move. Vet presence who can rotate in. Reminds me of the Jason Peters move some.

Well at that price , I think it is a good deal. Now can they use him properly?
You dont want to wear him out early on, it is a long season.
Maybe some games dont use him at all, save him for the tougher teams/games.

You're not wrong. Decent price. High quality guy. His knowledge alone makes him another coach. SB, playoff experience - if we even get there.

That said, my only gripe is opportunity cost. The investment in a younger player who also might get 4.5 sacks, etc...but also plays special teams, makes less and will be here next year. And will be getting better.

Of course, the young player could also be Mazi Smith. Fingers crossed.

So another thread of mine gets deleted. Sounds like someone is jealous or simply doesn't want me creating threads in this site. Someone hates AC, eh?

The team is just hoping he can do what Clowney did last season...or something close. Personally I would be surprised if he did.....
I think I would have taken Clowney over him. Does Von play the run??? Not really...We already got a bunch of tweeters that get after the QB...Besides Gary...we really don't have another guy to play the run. Don't trust Sam Williams....

You should do some research before making claims like this.
