Cowboys lingering problem on defense is still their pass rush

Coaches are never going to be critical or voice concerns in public
100% true. I'm surprised anyone still goes by what the coaches say. The coaches who do speak their minds to the press get fired.
True. However, you can still get a feel from the tone of how they say things.
They are genuinely excited about where they were.
As opposed to other things Brian S. had to say. This player is doing well, but has some work to to.

Now if jerry said it, then I would not buy it. But 2 coaches said it. And even Von Miller said they have some talented players there.

No, I'm still concerned about LB and possibly CB. Love what I'm seeing at both so far, don't get me wrong, but preseason is still preseason.
Sorry if this has been misinterpreted. My concerns aren’t related to preseason performance.

It’s the topic of convo this morning in Dallas press and thought it was a reasonable concern.

Our pass rush doesn’t concern anyone ?

All you get from coaches generally in public is an upbeat positive outlook.

Exactly.
And someone will merge as a sack leader over others. But that does not mean they are a superstar.
They are taking advantage of the opportunity that is created.

Remember 4 or 5 years ago. Before Micah. Dallas did not have a big leader in sacks, as a different player stepped up each game to get sacks.
But they were consistent all year long. And did not disappear in December.
KC has been winning super bowls largely on the back of interior disruption. They don't win 3 w/o Chris Jones. Who were their edge rushers? I have no idea w/o looking it up.

No idea, but it does not concern me. People keep discounting Gary, which is beyond weird. He's a 7/10 sack type. Good pressure off the edge. So, it's really only one position. And I feel very sure that the mix of Malachi/VonMiller/EZ/Williams will provide a more than adequate rush off the weak side.

Maybe, maybe not. All the coaches say is interlaced w/ 80% plus of simple coachspeak. They have publicists to keep them from saying much of anything.

Of course they are excited. We completely remade our D, and acquired several proven starters and several promising rooks/sophomores in doing so.

Ok. Then guess all of these discussions or concerns are totally unwarranted . Our pass rush is going to be formidable .
Thanks

So how then do you know, any different than what you are even saying.
It is all speculation on your part, no more than my part.

Don't act as if you are right and other are wrong then.

I am going by general comments. Even analysts and reporters are saying what I am saying.
They are not out there saying the pass rush sucks.

And as my post above. All speculation then from any fan. I based my on what I heard, seen, and feel.
Reporters even say it.

I believe they are, yes. The pass rush is the least of our concerns.

Our DLine is formidable. Definitely.

While they do lack an elite pass rusher, the overall defense will still. Be better than the last year. How much better is debatable

I’m not sure why it’s so alarming for some fans to state concerns.

It remains the topic of conversation and concern around the local media this morning.

How improved will our pass rush be ? And will it be enough?? Seems like a fair question to me.
Yeah it’s fair. We honestly don’t know. We are on cloud 9 I think we got some solid depth pieces but starters I wonder….

But it was against guys who will be collecting unemployment in the next few months.

Williams and Liufau playing late into the 4th quarter suggests their roster spots are in question.
I’m more concerned if they weren’t making plays. But being they are backups I think it’s a good thing. These guys use to get significant snaps for us now they are 2nd and 3rd string.

I think we do. Out of the 5 man D front, we have 4 starters ranging from solid to stellar. We only have one position to fill, and now have von Miller as a fallback plan. And it's actually unlikely that at least one of the young guys doesn't turn out. EZ was actually very good last season, just couldn't finish. Which is actually a common occurrence on a D that lacks talent, and we lacked talent in a big way last season.

I mean….Demarcus Lawrence was the guy for a SB defense….and he’s no Parsons. He was so not Parsons we let him walk and brought in Miller.
The D scheme and discipline is more important than having a Lawrence Taylor bending the edge. Obviously would be great to have both but…can’t have it all

And why do people keep claiming this "unproven" thing? It's just not true. Look at this:

Q
Clark
Gary
Ogboner

All proven to be competent or more NFL starters.

EZ played very well last season. It'd actually be odd if he doesn't take a step forward.
James Houston: Proven NFL pass rusher. Weak vs run. Rotational.
Bullard: Very good rotational big guy.

How in the world is anyone coming up w/ "unproven"?

Yes, the additions on defense has shored up the interior of DL and hopefully brought much support for run defense but without a premiere pass rusher can we put enough pressure on QB’s or will we leave our secondary vulnerable again.

Obviously we are concerned or wouldn’t have brought in Miller who is on last leg of his career.

So despite all the optimism towards a defense which has obviously been upgraded on many fronts this remains a major concern which could thwart an improved roster on defense and top 5 offense from making the playoffs.
How much did our 1st team defense actually play last night?
