For the Milton haters. You don't know QB

Credit to Milton for putting himself in the position and doing the work to the point the improvements show but I’d pump the brakes.

It’s pre season and the cardinals. Not saying he can’t keep progressing but the “can he replace dak” or is he a starter somewhere else is way too premature imo.

I wouldn’t even bother reading this thread, but he sucks until otherwise until he shows you shows us that he is even a pimple on the *** of Quincy Carter never mind a legitimate quarterback. The jury is still out.
He has never been good.
He look good against one of the worst teams in football.

This is why people make fun of cowboy fans getting excited for preseason victories.

Do you know who else gets excited for preseason victories?

Jets fans

Camden Brown has shown a lot of talent in this pre-season. He can flat out catch the ball. He is not the fastest but neither were a lot of Pro Bowl receivers. I am not saying he is Randy Moss but he could be a great developmental receiver. He certainly is better than Tolbert who we kept as the 3rd receiver for years. I still remember yelling at the TV when the Cowboys had the opportunity to draft Moss and did not. I felt the same with Tyler Warren last year. I believe there are athletes and there are football players. Sometimes they have both qualities. I have the strong sense that Brown is a football player. Milton is as well. I also think CeeDee is declining and by the end of the year may not be the second best receiver on the team. No one has mentioned this but I firmly believe Pickens is better than CeeDee and that it would be a huge mistake to let Pickens leave Dallas. I think Pickens has incredible talent but is not football savvy or that he possesses the killer instinct. Pickens does. Not a CeeDee hater, just think he is receding.

I am never mistaken for an optimist here but I have to say I don’t think I’ve seen a cowboys team look this good in the preseason. Players where they are supposed to be, QB looks competent, WRs running the right routes, defenders knowing where to line up, knowing their assignments, tackling….and these are the backups. It’s refreshing

Roger was great but Dandy Don was a character our of a Damion Runyun story. He was not the greatest QB but he was the coolest QB ever and he was as tough as any football player. I think he broke his nose nine times and still wore a single shield on his helmet. Heck, he played and entire second half with a punctured lung and won!

Milton has earned some hate. He is finally scratching the surface of why he was drafted to begin with. Milton was drafted what 3 years ago and he's finally done enough to earn a roster spot. He still has a long way to go but he's at least shown he is a Capable backup...in pre season.

I’m torn….i don’t know if last night can be a norm for Milton vs an aberration. I WANT him to be improving to where that’s his norm, even to eventually replace Dak in a few years…..but….do we risk that and let go of Howell and then if Dak get hurt, Milton ends up regressing and the season is done? Hope is good, but is it realistic? He needs a lot more rep, to show more and be consistent with it. I wonder how he is on the classroom with breaking down film, how he is reading defenses and if he REALLY wants it like Brady, Manning, Brees etc wanted it….

Told you Cowboybish Milton will be a starter, and hopefully for the Pokes. qb rating over 151 last night 2 te passes and a td run. He man is a baller with unusual talents throwing and running. Now that there is a coaching staff in place, the sky is the limit. You all wrong about Shelton also. He will be a long term starter as well. Go Pokes!

And I hope you are 100% right and I'll be glad I was wrong.

Wrong thread.

Who are the Milton haters? Give me their names.
I'm not a hater. I would love to see him succeed here. But I'm old enough to know preseason doesn't mean anything. I can't believe people still fall for this. Zach Wilson lit the field up in his rookie preseason debut. Let that sink in.

I like everything you said except you are beating down the Ceedee thing for no reason. Ceedee is #1 on any team in the NFL, and we are allowed to have the 2 guys in the top 10 on our team.

I'd like to see Milton get all the snaps Friday night. He needs all he can get to continue his progression. I would also like to see Schotty and Adams challenge him to make every throw not just the safe ones. Last night was impressive. He has more upside/athletic ability than Howell. Just keep it going!

Howell has started many games in the NFL and the Cowboys know what he can/can't do at this point. So far I've been disappointed in his play. Being just ok isn't what I was expecting from an experienced vet with 18 starts.
I really expected more from Howell, but Milton's improvement has softened that disappointment at least.

I don't know if the Cowboys should replace Howell as inactive QB3 but you're right, he's just okay.

I think he should get the second half again in the next game though because the Cowboys need to see if he shows any improvement or else start looking at the QB cuts by other teams after final cuts happen.

Joe Milton outplayed Howell by a mile. He moved the team expertly, which was totally better than what Howell had to offer. He should rightly be awarded the backup position to Dak if he again plays as he did vs. the Cardinals. His improvement was astoundingly better than it was last year. Those who believe otherwise should can the impressions that were formed last year. His play versus the Cardinals was near perfection. Joe Milton deserves your consideration as the #2 QB. It's absolutely so. Believe it.

Milton, much to my surprise looked great! I will temper expectations as Milton seems to get very nervous with his throws when there is a pass rush. Hats off to Jerry if Milton ends up being great, but let’s see how he does in the regular season vs first team defenses.
He looks "nervous" because his instinct is to run. But he's been coached to keep looking for the throw. I think he'll get better with it. He defintely doesn't want hit.
