Cowboys' first-team defense to start drills

Forced into the starting lineup because of injury. He's a backup that the Cowboys have projected as a starter. My opinion is that he will be a backup by midseason, maybe earlier.
Hold on now lol. He was a backup because the best linebacker in the league was in front of him lol.

If he ends up a backup here that’s great news.

Just because Warner was in front of him means he’s starting material. The Niners were obviously fine with letting him go.

Winters is faster and can cover.

We know you don’t like Barham. Speed isn’t everything I want my ILB playing downhill, O can handle coverage and side line to side line. Winters can handle the nickel as well. Barham will be a tone setter and he will be much better against the run. Hope that helps.

No the fact that he started means he’s starting material. If they sucked id agree but 49ers had a good defense. 49ers had reasons to let him go and I haven’t read it was because he was a backup. We got rid of Osa and he’s starting for them does that mean he’s not starting material?

By your logic, Kenneth Murray was a starter last year. Is he starting material?

This is merely respect for the veterans in training camp.
Yeah, I’m wondering if Schotty is making the rookies “work for it” or something along those lines. I have a lot of trouble thinking Downs isn’t a Day 1 starter.

He is a starter, but in the nickel, which is what teams play almost every play anyway.

Ogbonnia is our third DL in the 3-4 front. We won't be in the 3-4 that often because this is a passing league. However, Parker said that we are a 3-4 base defense so this is the starting group.

The only one I question with this group is Hooker. To me, if we are running two safeties, the second safety should be Downs. But like with Barham, that may be a transition that happens over the first half of the season.
This is true he and Overton will be rotating behind Clark and QW they will get their shot but we only need depth,

I mean you're not going to pull your starters that often but there is a heavy rotation on all defensive lines.

so they will get their time I mean over 10 reminds me a little bit of OSA maybe plays the run better but that's why they made the trade because they have more of a rotational role for that guy now and I've Ogbonnia on goal line, short yardage, and 3rd and one or 4th and one...

I bet he's out there there's gonna be a jumbo package and you want those dudes out there for sure..

Played actual NFL games lol

Maybe Barham is better, maybe he isn't. But you're just assuming that he is based on...practice?
Based on projecting players, which is what you always do, regardless if you're a veteran or a rookie. Schotty's mistake was not at least playing Winters in the preseason to have a legit competition, probably because they didn't think Barham would come on as quickly as he has. I'm rolling with the dawg, not some LB that the Niners were more than happy to part with for a 5th round pick.
