Have we become so used to Jerry that anytime he does bare minimum we praise him?

It's kind of an anything in life thing really.
If something was one way for a long time but then switched to being a much lesser performance level then your expectation level of that something is naturally lowered if that performance level remained poor over an extended time.

So yes, the 30 years of Jerry's mis-managemt and subsequent onfield failures of the Dallas Cowboy roster and staff has absolutely affected my expectation level to the point where I am happy in any small difference to his previous 30 year standard status quo.

No. I just watch other teams. Not just the Cowboys.

I love how you are questioning 3 teams who have gone further than the Cowboys in the last decade, heck the last 3 years.

Giants hired Harbaugh whos in his first year, Eagles are rebuilding a bit after winning 2 SBs in the last decade, and the Commanders were in an NFCG 2 years ago.

LOL. Really?
I had The Ticket last year for the first time and tried to make good use of it. It was almost mindblowing how different almost every other team played from us. It occurred to me not JUST lastyear but for quite sometime.

YEP...still a fan...not changing now after more than 50 years.

I got 10 more years than you, lol don’t get old you start forgetting things lol

Yes it is. Thats what ANY competent GM does. That what you guys dont get lol.

Jerry did what any GM does. Yall acting like its some crazy new thing is what I am talking about.
Well, there you go.

By the standards we're used to, competency from the front office is above the bare minimum. Well above it.

It kinda is a crazy new thing in Dallas.

Oh you’re confused. I’m not saying Jerry is a good GM or that he’s been good. I’m saying he’s having a good offseason. What Giants did 15 years ago is irrelevant to 2026. I’m speaking about this year only.

You watch other teams. Ok me to. Your argument is Jerry did the bare minimum. Who went above and beyond the bare minimum? Who’s the teams or GMs?
The Rams for 1.

Constantly.

The franchise has done much more than the bare minimum this offseason… I don’t know what Jerry did though. Probably not much.

It was Schotty, McClay, scouting/pro personnel, and Stephen that seemed to do most of it.
That’s another thing. I don’t even give Jerry the credit for it. Jerry is not behind hiring Parker. Downs I can see it was a no brainer. Miller? I can see. Jalen Thompson? Hell no.

Have a good day, you totally misunderstood what I was asking, but I can understand your anger
I explained why I was a fan, it’s the star what it represents, and that’s all I was asking,
But I can understand where the frustration comes from. Have a good day.
The problem is, what the star used to represent and what it does now are 2 different things.

The star represents the laughing stock of the NFL now. Thanks to the guy who decided to make calls instead of wait for them this season.

They really havent. They signed their own superstar, and used FA like everyone else.

That is quite literally, the basic job of any NFL GM.

So one team and everyone else was bad or did the bare minimum?
You know what dude I am not arguing with you.

Bare minimum to you and to me mean 2 different things. They had a competent offseason and yall act like its some way above the bare minimum thing.

This team did what ANY FUNCTIONAL team does in the NFL. For the first time in YEARS.

Now you act like its above the bare minimum. Its not. And you cant see it, and that is fine.

I don’t even know what you’re harping on about. I haven’t seen anyone say anything like you’re saying. The argument is they had a competent offseason. You initially used bare minimum. No one even gives Jerry props for it like me and Asthma just said we don’t even think it’s Jerry. You’re disgruntled at fans that I don’t even think exist. What Rambo and Rockport? Ok? The argument is the Cowboys are moving different than they have in years and it’s competent. No one is confusing Jerry with Howie.

It’s like some of you fans want to temper expectations. Why? I don’t know. At the end of the day I follow what the league is doing just like you said you do. Cowboys had a solid offseason. In their division I’d say they had a better offseason than anyone. Your argument for that was some weird what Giants did 15 years ago lol. Weird.

Here is a poll I will not post:

Being A Cowboys Fan Means
A. Loving the Dallas Franchise
B. Loving the Dallas Franchise and Jerry Jones
C. Loving the Dallas Franchise and Jerry Jones Because I Am Telling You He Is The Owner/GM So Do It!
D. Hunting Down DallasEast and Give Him a Massive Wedgie

____________

I predict D would win in a landslide.

I respect your opinion, I was in the military, I see the star is a total different aspect, not just the team

Maybe it was the combination of the original wording of the OP combined with some poor reading comprehension by Zoners here.

For example. If the OP title were re-phrased to...

"Should Jerry be praised for FINALLY meeting league wide GM standards OR should this level of competency be the standard fans consistently demand of him?"

I think that is the discussion you were looking for.

But it's just my opinion.
