Rashawn Gary looks like this year's Kenneth Murray

Absolutely, but we still can grade each individual player by the film they produced....

Q1
12:53 - Completely blown off the ball by the FB. Minus grade
12:12 - Run opposite side. Gary plays his responsibilites fine, but goes unblocked. No grade
11:34 - QB sneak - Gary unblocked but no involved in the play. No grade
10:49 - Quick pass so its a tough ask for the pass rush, but Gary made no pressure - No grade
8:19 - Ran to Gary's side, Gary driven back 5 yards off the LOS - Minus grade
7:32 - Pass - No pressure, Gary gets washed down inside on a late stunt - Minus grade
6:45 - TD to Skattebo to Gary's side. This is an interesting one because I think this is more a scheme issue than a player issue for this play. Good gap control by the guys inside, just no penetration, but I think this is by design. The failure here is at the LB level....Offset Y in a run play, just follow him to the football. This is basic stuff these guys should be reading, but Gary did his job. Plus grade
1:59 - A rare loaf for Gary on a run up the middle. Not sure if he just didnt find the football quick enough, but did nothing but low energy hand fighting with the OT the whole play. Minus grade
1:18 - Run away from Gary, does a veteran move to reroute the TE in case of play action and solid pursuit to the ball. Plus grade
:33 - Pass, Good inside move to get Dart moving and create a pressure. Side note, but Barham gets demolished here, probably should have been a penalty because of how far the OT rode him upfield. Plus grade for Gary though
Q2
5:38 - Pass, entire defense fooled by play action, 16 yard gain for NY - Minus play
5:01 - Draw, Gary blocked out of the play - minus play
4:19 - Pass - Decent push by Gary but #0 and 6 beat him to the QB for the pressure credit - Plus play
4:14 - Pass - No pressure, nowhere close to getting to the QB - Minus grade
2:00 - Run right at Gary and he jumps inside leaving his gap exposed for an 8 yard gain. With the way he jumped inside it could be a gap exchange with the LBs, but Gary moved so slow that even if it was he did the LBs dirty. Minus play.
:49 - Pass - straight bullrush with a slight push but not real pressure - Minus grade
:45 - Pass - tries to rip around the outside shoulder of the RT but just gets washed back. No pressure - Minus grade
:40 - Pass - Dart has all day to throw, no pressure - minus grade
:35 - Pass - No pressure at all - minus grade

The early games are starting so I'm stopping at the end of the 1st half, but overall there were a few good plays, but a lot of bad not from just the Cowboys but specifically Gary. He needs to play better if this team is going to have a chance.
I always appreciate these because the ones who disagree sound so clueless when they respond.
It keeps me entertained.

Thanks again for this TP.

He played pretty well today. He set the edge very well and was disciplined controlling his gap. The entire interior has been trash including Q Williams.

Another ridiculous comeback when you have nothing else air some of your opinions are like eating rice cakes has nothing to do with Rashawn Gary who was the starter for the Packers but now that he's here he's trash of course because that's all you got How about this let them play all 17 games and we could talk about it 'cause if he is washed then we'll know
How is this working out for you?

Hey buddy

He is a solid player. Not a playmaker or a difference maker. He is exactly what he was in Green Bay.

Gary is not going to be the worst player on your defense. He is a role player at best. Nothing to see here.

No joke. I mean, that was one of the worst comparisons I've ever seen on these boards.
We had a six page “Jaishawn Barham gives me Ray Lewis vibes” a week ago.

Here are a few more
  • “Does Phil Mafah give King Henry vibes?“
  • “Jaydon Blue reminds me of Tony Dorsett”. (One guess who started that one)
And this classic
  • “Denucci reminds me of Romo”
Never underestimate the Power of The Zone.

No he hasn't been "solid". No he definitely hasn't been "exactly what he was in GB". You don't pay a guy $16M to be a role player "at best" who you describe as "not going to be the worst player on your defense"

Look at his stats to end the season last year in Green Bay. Stats declined as the season went on. After Parsons was hurt he was exactly what he is the first 3 games of this season.

Maybe people don't watch enough of other teams. He is exactly who I expect him to be...regular.

Oh, so he was there for 7 years, you say "exactly who he was in GB" and then pivot to the 2 1/2 games he played when Micah was hurt in which he played about half the snaps? Seriously? Also he had 7 1/2 sacks last year. He has been one of the better run stopping EDGEs in the league during his time at GB. Maybe it's you who doesn't watch enough of other teams.

Why are you under the impression that anything is going to change under Jerry?
This type of talk makes no sense. Draft picks like JaiB (55), Booker, Downs, Tyler Smith and many others seem do just fine with Jerry as the GM. I'm not the biggest fan of Jerry but come one, every GM have a lot of hit and misses. Gary was an above average player at GB. Either he's a slow starter, playing out of place, scheme not right for him, hurt, or something. He didn't just forget how to play football. I think Murray was never good in the NFL.

I watched the Giants game over again. Rashawn Gary looks like this year’s Kenneth Murray. Looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane. Except Murray wasn’t making $20 million a year.
no DE in the league will do well in CPs system. DEs are trying to cover TEs and RBs while playing zone

Packer fan here.

The merits of the Parsons trade remain open to debate (though neither team involved in that deal is likely doing anything of note in the near future).

But the fact that GB was able to get a 4th round pick for a guy who was dogging it on the field and was about to be released is simply highway robbery.

Rashan is the prototypical Michigan Man -- #1 rated high-school player, never produced on the field in college commensurate to the hype, and (over) drafted at #13 overall by the Packers mediocre GM.

He not only is washed, Gary does not care.

Sorry Cowboy fans, there is just nothing there when it comes to Rashan Gary.

The man has 46.5 career sacks in 8 seasons. That's 5.8 sacks per season including 3 games of 2026. 6.6 sacks per season over 7 seasons.

He averages exactly 0.43 sacks a game on his career. If he sticks to his average with 14 games to play he ends up with 6 sacks in 2026.

The guy is exactly who I thought he was...regular. Never had more than 9.5 career sacks. Four times in his career he has had more than 7 sacks in a season. Four times. Again, he is an eight year vet.

Not my fault you looked at him and thought that guy is a difference maker.

Thank you! I hope @Jarntt sees your post and can appreciate the opinion of a Packers fan who watched 7 years of the guy's career.
