TRADED Porter traded to Cowboys (2027/6th round, 2028/2nd round)

Maybe they don't throw to his side that much
This is absolutely true but you might have trouble getting people to agree even when advanced metrics show it

The next gen stat that addresses this is
Target Rate per Coverage Snap. This is what shows how often WBs throw into a CBs area.

Porter is top 3 in this metric.

In 2025, his receivers were only targeted 66 times the entire season. That’s less than 5% of all targets.

When QBs did throw at Porter they had a 56.2 qb rating and threw zero TDs

So, not only did they throw less in his direction they actually avoided throwing at him.

Parker may need to let him press a bit more than he does Bland, but Porter is head and shoulders above Bland when it comes to talent and abilty.

All this is actual data based on tech.

Nextgen stats use chips in players shoulder pads and the chips are sending out a pin many times a second and reviewers all through the stadium capture it. Every player, every second, is mapped. The ball is also chipped and tracked. All of this gets crushed by computers to figure exactly where every call goes and who’s in the area. It’s really fascinating technology.

i’m not hating on the trade. i welcome getting better any way we can but man.. we can have Deion Sanders back there if no one pressures the QB anyone is getting cooked.

A 2028 2nd? I can live with that— IF Porter plays at his ceiling.

Does he fit what Parker wants? We still have no pass rush, but Porter is an upgrade to our roster, and at a position where we are really thin.

Hopefully our “guru” DC had a voice in this move and has a clear vision for the player.

With Nico suiting up on Sunday, this move can only help lol…

Id rather have Herbig to be honest
So far this year, he'd fit right in as he doesn't have a sack. Age wise I can see it, but he is not as good as Highsmith right now. Highsmith has 12.5 sacks in his last 16 games and was a top 5 edge vs the run last year. He also produced when Watt was out and after Herbig cooled off.

lol jerry is going all in here.
we have no pass rush. edge is way higher priority.
It’s weak three you freaking weirdo!!!! You jackpots will never be happy!!!! Take your boy Mickey Fisher with you and go jump in a creek!!!

At this point, I don't know. The way our secondary players are falling, I'm not sure who our top five are at the moment. I mean, we had Bell and Alijah Clark as our starting safeties in the nickel Sunday after Thompson went down and Bland and Carson as our top two corners after Revel was injured. That's about as bad as anything we put out there last year, other than having Downs at slot.
We gotta get Bell off the field....Teams have been targeting him repeatedly. He can't cover...it's plain as day.

I wonder if Porter can seriously come in here in 2 days and play on Sunday....I have my doubts

Ok just seeing this news.

Im much better with it being a 2028 2nd.

Draft Chris Cole pick up a DE and lets roll.
:hammer:The fact it's a 2028 pick....to me makes it a no brainer. That's a pick almost 2 years out. You make that deal in a heartbeat. Chances are...we recoup that pick in a trade down in the 2027 draft with that Packers pick.

Look, hate on the trade or not, but the defense appears to have 4 outstanding building blocks, with one at each position.

DL - Quinnen Williams
LB - Jaishawn Barham
CB - Joey Porter Jr
S - Caleb Downs
Get me Cole in draft and a pass rusher and lets go!

Jerry Jones is coming to terms with mortality, and he doesn't care if he leaves Stephen in a totally destitute situation both cap and draft-wise.

He sees 2026 and 2027 as his final shots at a non-Johnson championship.

If he has to go down, he's taking the entire franchise with him. The future means nothing to him.
