TRADED Porter traded to Cowboys (2027/6th round, 2028/2nd round)

Does that mean we only have a 1st round pick. Or do we have others from trades. Had 2 1st rounders but gave 1 up for Williams. So now no 2nd rounders or 3rd or 4th. Or any.

Seems like we are getting players who don't fit Parker's scheme exactly? So I like the player, but apparently Q and Porter arent great fits so im kind of confused
Truth.

He’s a press corner. Doesn’t tackle well.

CP is a Philly Cover 4/6/8/9 scheme.

That’s what the yahoo’s here have been saying to do. Follow the Rams. Trade all your draft picks away. Y’all have been crying for this for years and now that they start doing it; out comes the hate.

Likely true.

He’s UFA in March.

Wants paid now.
Jerry has a few options

1. Give him a new deal. Most teams would’ve had a structure in place prior to the trade but Jerry isn’t most GMs,
2. Let him play out the year and let him walk. Dallas would be getting a 1 year rental for a little over 3 mil a 2 and a 6. They’d likely get a 3rd comp pick back.
3. Let him play out the year and tag him. CB tag is a decent bargain comparatively.

Options 2&3 are risky since Porter has shown a willingness to sit-out over $.

They will tag him

So he’s been out for 3 weeks due to his lying or is the medical staff in on his false injuries as well?
Probably a bit of both.

The Steelers doctors and the team have treated this as legit from day one.

He returned to practice this week but was ruled out for tonight’s game.

They didn’t handle this like the Cowboys where Jerry was calling the injury fake to the media.

But you don’t have a competent GM. The time he does something competent you complain.
It’s not all or nothing, lol. Competent moves are only known in hindsight. Good competent GM’s know when to hold/fold. The moves over the past 1.5 years at least mean that Jerry is going all in on Dak in a way that they have not gone all in for the past 30 seasons. This is major free agency participation via trading major picks and then signing new deals or franchise tagging. And going back to back seasons with 7 wins and starting 1-2 and then making yet another major trade does not smell of competence-it smells of salesman desperation.

The Cowboys can win this terrible division this season with the major injuries that only seem to affect the opponents. So there’s that.

I guess Jerry figured he might not be around long enough to see a 2028 draft pick develop. So why the heck not? I think we made this trade due to all the injuries in the secondary. Plus , we got to bail our buddies in Pittsburgh out of another sticky holdout situation. So, we get a good player and more people like us now in Pittsburgh. And at the end of the day, isn't the NFL really about making friends and helping others?
