Schottenheimmer said he told him on 2nd down to throw it away on 3rd down. I still haven't heard anyone say Schottenheimmer said run the play and then throw the ball out of bounds no matter what. "If nothing is there..."
To me, this is the coach saving Dak from another choke job.
I mean... you're going to choose how you want to look at it for your own personal reasons and thats cool, but how can a man make clutch throws all game to keep us close enough, then decide to choke when we're already in fg range? Why didn't he choke leading us all the way down there?
Listen you got your opinion and I only can respect what you believe you saw or heard no matter what I clearly saw and heard. The thing about it is he was told to throw the ball away if his first read wasn't open. He did that.
Had Dak gotten sacked right there with no time outs left, you'd have said that he choked. Had Dak held on a little longer and got the ball tipped by the defensive end that pushed our RT back into Dak's throwing lane and it got intercepted, you'd have said Dak choked.
You see how you framed this? Choking would have been the inability to lead us down the field to, at worst, put us in fg range. He did that. When his first read wasn't opened, he tossed out of bounds because nobody was open, as he was instructed by his head coach.
Dak, the offense, defense, coaching staff and the rest of the world thought that we would be going into overtime with the confidence that we can get it done because our offense put up 31 points and or defense did make some key plays despite getting gashed for 192 yards on the ground.
Who knew that the Ravens would do something that has never been done before like getting into fg range with a 27 yard pass in 6 seconds?
If you consider that Dak choking, then thats cool. So did Aubrey choke to by 2 bad kicks out of bounds that kept giving the Ravens short fields? Did the defense choke by giving up 27 yards in 6 seconds at the end?
I only ask because when teams score 31 points in the NFL, they win 80% of the time. So if you consider the players on the unit that scored 31 points "choking" what about the special team and defense who did the things they did? Did they choke too?
