Tyrone Crawford carted off the field (achilles)

Only thing we can do is hope it gives someone else an opportunity to step up. Would be great to have someone else step up (like Wilber) and next year have them both.

The only positive I can take from this right now is it gives someone else who we might not even know about right now, an opportunity to perform and perhaps make us a stronger team next year when Crawford is ready.

Wilber will back up Ware and like he and Spencer, he's undersized.

The bad thing about losing Crawford, he was about the only end on the roster with good size and position flexibility.

This DL system relies on depth, much like our lines did back in the early 1990s, with rushers coming in waves.

I do not think there is another end on this roster capable of being the kind of player we need.

I hope Crawford is OK. Although, it sounds bad. Injuries are part of the game. If Crawford is out for the year, hopefully, DT Nick Hayden will be a pleasant surprise. Good opportunity for one of the other guys to step up. Can't cry about it.

Wow a major injury already. Probably lots more to come...it's not going to be pretty

Next man up.

Know it's sounds cliche but every team has injuries, it's the team's that can weather the storm and stay competitive despite taking shots like this are the ones that end up being champions.

John Abraham is available, had 10 sacks and 6 force fumbles last year, don't know why he's available or any good.

He's good and wouldn't command much money. $4 a year.

Stephen Jones confirms that Tyrone Crawford suffered season-ending torn Achilles. Points to Barry Church as proof can come back strong.

I'm sorry, but how is that "proof"? Church hasn't even made it out of camp, who knows how strong he is?

I'm in with John. Fantastic athlete but he has problems staying on the field.

Isn't Ben Bass a DT, I thought he was around 300 lbs. I mean he might be the best pass rusher we have behind the starters if Wilber cannot settle in at DE.

Are we operating under assumption that he is out for the whole season? I don't know what sucks more, losing him for most of the season, or when Spencer leaves not know what you have behind him?

I hope this doesn't really set his career back. Achilles injuries are pretty much one of the worst tears you can encounter in sports.

Cumbersome being a DE; if he were a CB, it could spell the end.

He's not good enough (yet) for the Cowboys to hold on to a roster spot for him all season with the idea that he could contribute in the playoffs.

If it is a very small tear then maybe not season ending. Most of these are complete tears with the tendon off the bone. Gotta reattach it and I'm guessing they are drilling thru the heel but that's just an educated guess. So no I don't see him being back until next year which sucks.

Trust in Kiffin Boys, trust..in...Kiffin.

Yes, the geriatric coach who lead USC to a #60 ranked total defense, giving up 62 points and over 700 yards in 1 game at his last stop. Trust in Jerry Jones, his results over the last 17 years speak for themselves.

Well Seattle runs a similar system to us and they have 323 pound Red Bryant in that DE spot.

There are more than one way to skin a cat, and while Crawford is a big loss, he doesn't end our season at all. We still have 3 former probowlers on that DL, and while I would love to have Crawford, I'm not going to cry about it either.

As Red proves, a traditional pass rusher isn't needed in that spot for this D.

Wow, just got in and heard the news. Really lousy, was looking forward to watching him this year. That's got to be sickening for a player, you wait all offseason for this day and it's over for the year just like that.

It seems like every year there is someone in the league who goes down on day one of camp, or on the first play of the first preseason game. Weird. I had that thought yesterday, lets just get through day one with no season enders. Sorry guys, I jinxed things.
