Twitter: Machota: Romo changed play on 3rd and goal play; Dez didn't know

That is probably the worst play call I've seen in quite a while. Not only was Dez in single coverage, but he could have run a crossing route in front of the single coverage because there was no safety on that side of the field. That play came immediately after a false-start penalty, and Romo appeared to call the play at the line, but I have no way of knowing if it was an audible or if the play was called in to him after the penalty. It appears that after the penalty, Dez wasn't told what the play was going to be.

And the worst thing is that the Chiefs defense probably knew that Tony wasn't going to throw to Dez and thats why Dez was left all alone in single coverage. I mean, Dez waived like crazy but nobody cared about it.

If that were true that would be hilarious. They just assume we're morons and in most cases they're right

did anybody see Dez pouting and mad at the sidelines after that? he knew he could get it done on single coverage but Romo never even looked at him.

He was pouting because he had been destroying Flowers all day and was left open on that play.

Can anyone imagine Aikman going to the line in a 3rd down redzone situation with Irvin in a 1 on 1 and choosing to throw a wr screen to rookie Kevin Williams instead? I sure can't.

Apples to Oranges. Can you imagine what Romo would do with the TEAM Aikman had? Give Aikman the line/running game Romo has been dealing with for the majority of his career and I promise you he would not have the rings he has today. You brought it up, not me.

That arguments getting old....Aikman 3 rings, HOF.....let it go already.

I'm talking game situations, you're talking silly.

You're telling me to let it go, yet another poster is the one who brought up Aikman. I can care less about the Aikman era right now, at this moment and time it's about Romo. Whether you like that or not is a different story.

Not the one who brought it up.

I'm the one talking silly yet you're talking about Aikman as if he's still QBing for this team. Just stop it....

Classic idiotic Romo and his stupid audibles. I can't wait until the Romo era is over. I'm so sick of the mediocrity.

Terrance Williams says Romo checked into the screen for him in red zone. Saw something he didn't like. Says he needed safety out the way.

Checking into the screen is something I wouldn't even expect Blaine Gabbert to do.. much less a QB you just paid ELITE money to. Ridiculous. Tons of QB's int he league would have seen the giant mismatch on the one on one and would have even hurried to hike the ball there to get Dez the ball.

My problem is that on 1st and goal from the 5, WE PASSED! I'm glad DMurray spoke out about the lack of run plays called and put it on the coaches.

This was exactly my first thought. The answer is they don't trust the OL to block well enough in short yardage situations.

We have no idea if Romo audibled out of it, and he did, why was such a stupid play call among the options Romo was given? If Romo was looking at Dez as the first read, then no way in hell he would have audibled out of it, unless he had a brain stroke.

In my opinion, whether it was a call or not, Romo is at fault for not simply recognizing it and calling a pass to Dez.

I agree that this is on Romo here for not noticing this and going to it.

I do think, as someone mentioned above, that Romo was trying to play it too safe there and not give away the 3 points. I believe this is part of his not turning it over attitude this year and it's going to keep him from going after something at times that he should go after.

That's just my opinion anyway.

Well, if you give him that line, then you have to change the scheme. Romo does not have enough arm to run that timing offense IMO. You would also have to trade Emmitt because I don't see Romo handing off the ball 25 to 30 times a game to Emmitt.
