This one 100% falls on Romo. There is no way out of it. If the OC called for the screen.. then Romo should have audibled out of it and thrown to Dez, if the OC called the pass to Dez, then Romo shouldn't have audibled out of it. Brain farts in the red zone happen a lot with this team for some reason.

Agreed. 100% agreed on this.

For some inexplicable reason I honestly don't think Romo even looked over at Dez' side of the field pre-snap. It's like he had tunnel vision, there is nooooo way you would have made the decision he did otherwise. At least I hope not.

This was exactly my first thought. The answer is they don't trust the OL to block well enough in short yardage situations.

Well that's odd, because Dunbar just rattled off a ten or so yard run to get them down to the five. Maybe it's the starting running back and not the oline?

And that same Oline provided Romo plenty of time to throw most of the game too. I'm really down on Murray lately.. it's like he just looks for contact when he runs vs. busting through the holes and running for day light. Dunbar might be a better option if he can protect the ball. I love that at any time that guy can break off a long run. With Murray I don't have that feeling.

I can understand just not seeing Dez. I mean, that's not what you expect from your franchise QB but OK. I can even understand calling an audible but why call a screen to Williams? That I just can not wrap my head around. If you are worried about the safety, why not call a quick slant right at the area the safety is vacating or something like that?

Chalk it up to a mistake I guess.

Well, if you give him that line, then you have to change the scheme. Romo does not have enough arm to run that timing offense IMO. You would also have to trade Emmitt because I don't see Romo handing off the ball 25 to 30 times a game to Emmitt.

I think if Romo had a RB like Emmit Smith he would actually embrace him. Romo has never really had that luxury at RB, and that's a big reason why Romo is the QB he is, a gunslinger. He's always been in a situation where he himself has to do everything for the team to win. You can say Romo should be able to do it by himself, but the fact is no QB does.

The green bay packers run the same plays every week.

Peyton Manning has been in Denver a season, they run the same plays every week.

The New England patriots had run the same plays every week.

The New Orleans saints have run the same plays every week for years.

The 90's Cowboys, packers and 9ers ran the same plays every week.

The great rams teams ran the same plays every week.

This team makes it up from week to week. What exactly are we good at? When we need a play , what do we run? How do we highlight Dez's strengths? What is Witten's money play? Austin?

One week we're using Miles underneath. The next week it's heavy diet of screens for Harris(steelers) which were effective and have never been seen again.

We have a different game plan every week that never works unless we're playing in inferior foe.

This is what sickens me, they don't trust the line in short yardage and goal to go situations, but is not like our passing game has propelled us to Saints, Pats, Broncos level. With all of these receiving threats and a so-called decent passing blockin OL, we still don't score efficiently enough with it for it to be our backbone.

The excuse that we pass so much cuz were trailing has been put to bed the last 2 games. They (poor run blockin/deficits) are excuses to pacify those that hate the over use of the pass game and to justify more passing. I can sense Murray is fed up with our soft run game mentality and I hope his comments become a national story to put the offensive play calling on notice.

First and goal at the 5 means with a 3.whatever avg we score on two plays (take that avg freaks)! We're a mediocre passing team cuz we always shoot ourselves in the foot with a penalty or Romo INT and the 8-8s prove it!

RUN THE BALL AND DEVELOP SOME OFFENSIVE MENTAL TOUGHNESS

The cowboys had a good running game in 2009

He wasn't left open. Did you watch the game?

He was open on the play I'm referring to which is why he was so upset on the sidelines immediately after the pay. They even pointed him out being open during the telecast did you watch the game?

I don't agree with that. MB3 was good before he took to many hits. I think Murray is good if he's used. Romo is a throw 1st guy IMO. I don't see him changing his spots unless he is forced to do so, the way Parcells forced the issue.

Yep. Safety or no, that fade is a three step drop. Even on a Safety blitz, that ball is away before the Blitz ever gets there. I just don't see how you don't go to that or how you check down to a screen inside the 10.

I think the DB was trying to take the outside away and push him into the safety. But the safety was on the other side of the field. There was no one over there so any pass to Dez say on a skinny post should score. I don't have the coaches film yet but there are nine men in the box with a DB on Dez and the other on the other hash mark six yards deep.

So Tony really missed that one.

It makes it sound "better". Just like how Romo was "throwing into the teeth of the defense" when he threw the slant last game to T.Will. It's sad really, people don't need to twist things, there's already enough stuff you can bash on him about lol.
