Twitter: Jay Ratliff released...Ending His 8-Year Run In Dallas

Uhmm, wrong. lol

He was cut due to failed physical. He can't play. Read earlier today that his groin injury never healed.

I'm sure if it had healed, he'd be playing.

Just wait until the details come out. He had a sports hernia and the last time I checked, that wasn't a career ending procedure.

Yep. He got paid what, $18mill the last 2 years for not even playing a down? Or just a handful if he did. He got into with Jerry in the locker room in front of media and the team last season. You don't do that. Almost coming to blows. Then how DWI this past January.

Good riddance. What a waste.

Agreed. Also, kindly note the DWI was not long after Brent had his that killed a player. You would think he might have learned something from that. He was a great player when he played.. but being out most of 2012 and this year too.. just sucks. Not to mention he is on the wrong side of 30.

Yea see i'm seeing conflicting opinions from fans on here talking about he simply didn't want to suit up and play for us. Ratliff was cut because of his injury correct?

He was cut because of his injury. If he'd have stayed on the team, he would've been put on IR. Per Clarence Hill, both sides decided it was time to move on. Fans are angry, but it doesn't seem like he or the team is.

So in effect....

Jerry signed Ratliff to a 5-year contract with $18 million guaranteed, and Ratliff never played a single down.

Stupendous job, Jerry!

Which is why Jerry will never again pay age if he is a smart man. If guys want to wear the star in their declining years they will need to accept a modest short-term contract. Sorry Hatch.

It's going to be interesting to see what kind of interest he receives from other teams.

I've never been one to hold onto a position that I'm unwilling to admit I'm wrong. That said, I don't think I am. Seeing as all this info is coming out about him and team are ready to move on.

I think I figured out the cap. We now have $625k more in cap this year, $1.3M more in cap next year, and $30M more in cap from 2015-2017

Honestly, if the team isn't angry they should be. What you are hearing from them is called "the high road."

What does Rat cap figure jump to with him being released, this year and next years cap figure?

See ya Rat. Thank you for the days when you over-achieved and were considered a defensive standout for the Dallas Cowboys. I won't miss the knucklehead side of you. Good luck to you in the future.

Maybe so, but for the team, just releasing him makes zero sense. If he's out for the season, IR him. If not, he can play when he's healthy. It seems idiotic to me to cut a player at a position of utmost need because of some kind of juvenile rift, especially if he'll be healthy in a couple weeks and playing somewhere else on Jerry's nickel. Everybody needs to put on their big boy pants, for crapsake. What is this, seventh grade?

Im not sure I understand the question. By releasing him, we now have $625k MORE in capspace in 2013. In 2014, we have 1.3M MORE in cap space.
