Which is why Jerry will never again pay age if he is a smart man. If guys want to wear the star in their declining years they will need to accept a modest short-term contract. Sorry Hatch.

Agreed, Hatch is my favorite Cowboy, but he is too old at his position to be paid $40 mm over 5 years, and so was Rat.

Maybe so, but for the team, just releasing him makes zero sense. If he's out for the season, IR him. If not, he can play when he's healthy. It seems idiotic to me to cut a player at a position of utmost need because of some kind of juvenile rift, especially if he'll be healthy in a couple weeks and playing somewhere on our nickel. Everybody needs to put on their big boy pants, for crapsake. What is this, seventh grade?

How do you know he'll be playing somewhere else on our nickle in a couple of weeks? If he's not healthy, then that won't happen. If he's healthy and was released because of his altercation with Jerry, then it's very possible that he won't be getting a lot of calls. Other owners understand what that is and what that means. That's one of those, whatdayacallem, unwritten rules.

How was he released due to his altercation with Jerry? Wasn't that almost a year ago?

Between Spencer, Rat and Ware it's been a rough year for the line. Monte should be get the Robbie Ryan pass soon. Wonder if Rat tries out for the Pats.

I said in December of last year or so, he would never suit up for the Cowboys again. You just can't get physical with owners if you are a football player. Can't do that.

How could that be the reason he didn't suit up? Jerry kept him on the team, Jerry obviously wanted him to play, physical confrontation or otherwise.

Actually think about it. What do the Cowboys actually gain by putting him on IR?Prevent him from going to another team. They also appear vindictive to future free agents. What they gain is good will. You don't want to be here, so we understand. We are cutting you so you can look for employment elsewhere. No hard feelings and good luck. Ratliff comes off as a malcontent. Other teams are going to be cautious. Ratliff did far more damage to his own worth than he ever did to the cowboys. We will never hear about this, its going to be kept quiet.

I don't know that he'll be playing, but if he can play somewhere else he can play in Dallas. Otherwise, put him on IR. I can't believe that this whole blowup is over the locker room thing. If that's the case, I got nothin'. I stand by my call for the big boy pants.

We need him big time. But if we can't get him on the field I don't know what else one would do? Is there more to the story as to why he wasn't on the field? If not, then I don't think the Cowboys had much choice.

What will be interesting to see is if he is able to hook up with another team and "miraculously" heals from whatever it is that is supposedly ailing him.

I hope Spencer picks Rat up in his car and they both can drive off into the sunset and count all the money they stole.

I have never had so much disappointment in a Cowboy player as much as Rat and Spencer! I hope to never hear their names again.

Yeah, flame on...

He had 10 tackles in 2012 in the limited time he played so the Cowboys ended up paying upwards of $1.8m per tackle.

A split that cost the Cowboys tons of cap space. He could have played and asked to be traded. Instead, he stuck to everyone involved.. The Cowboys, his teammates and the fans. No respect for someone who doesn't see anything wrong with cashing checks to sit on their couch.

He couldn't pass a physical...therefore no viable trade.

Jerry should play dirty here, Take Rat to court if he signs elsewhere this season as a breach of contract. Just my opinion.

There has been some legal conjecture about that.
He would have needed permission to rehab outside of team management, which he apparently did not have.
He may have threatened to file suit against the team for allegedly causing or mismanaging his injury.
But he would have to pursue and win the legal battle in order for breach of contract to not be actionable.
I doubt that the entire sum owed to Rat will ever be paid.

We don't know the details. When it happened, he was injured so you can't just cut him. Then came the legal issues with the DWI and we don't know what might have been the case there with the leagues policies on cutting player while in counseling. Plus, you have cap ramifications that must be considered. I don't know the whole story here but the point is that if he's injured, he probably won't be playing on our nickle with somebody else. If it's something else, then he may not be getting a lot of calls anyway.

That's the point.

Spencer earned that contract - it certainly isn't his fault that he needed knee surgery nor was he a problem here like Ratliff was over the past year. He isn't stealing money anymore than any player on the IR is

But he was set to cost us 8.2M. so we NET SAVED 1.3M against the cap.

I'm glad were saving a little money don't get me wrong. I just hate paying the next two years for someone who is not even here anymore.

Robbie Ryan pass? Huh? RR was crucified around here and fired by the Joneses. How is that a "pass"?
