Jerry is getting used to losing. He's been happy with his 8-8 team for the last 3 years, he'll keep being happy with one.
 
Simple he still has seats to fill this year. He wants to project the illusion that this is a competitive team. At the end of the season to give the fans hope he will act all tough.

If youve paid attention over the years its a cycle. He knows what hes doing.
 
He can't show the media he is upset because this organization is under such a microscope the media would blow it out of proportion and all espn would talk about is the debacle in Dallas. He has to sound positive, if he doesn't act positive, the team will follow and just quit on the season. If we lose to NYG that ship will have sailed already.

OR he could just shut up and let the Head Coach and leaders of this team speak for the football being played.
 
LOL, he took JFE to school. :)

But yeah, he specifically mentioned getting whipped in every area in front of a national TV audience. No different from the Saints game.

I'm sure part is that this year we do have a chance at winning this lousy division.

And maybe part of it is that 1) that was his supposed "Host the Superbowl" year 2) his long term HC in waiting was already in place then. Not the case now.

Of course, that former coach in waiting said the same thing today: We haven't had many games like that around here, even the best teams lose games like that, blah blah blah.

Cause it gave him the excuse to finally put his Golden-boy in place... He said the same thing after this season, but he fired Rob Ryan and kept Garrett.
 
At the end of the day, the only thing that would really help is if Jerry fired himself.
 
Jerry IS FILLING the seats w/ college games. I originally thought the answer was to boycott the games and force him to change or risk going into bankruptcy. But clever marketer that he is, he just started signing deals w/ college teams to take up the slack, so he doesn't have to worry if people show up for the Cowbags or not. And I think more people come to these college games than the pro ones...

If he used that brain for the Cowboys, the Cowboys would be unstoppable... Didn't he get a Pacquioa fight in there a couple years ago as well?

If Jerry focused on filling his stadium with events and got somebody else (Ron Wolf?) to focus on day-to-day football operations, we would all be having very different conversations today.

Last Sundays game didn't put the Cowboys at 1-7 playing for next year like the Packers game did in 2010. That was Jerry coming to grips with the season being over and having to make a coaching change with 8 games remaining. As bad as things are now the Cowboys are still leading their division.

I think this is off base.

People think that when he gets his shiny new toys...a la Claiborne...its because he only cares about ticket sales. Of course, that plays some role, but in reality, he wants to win NOW, and doesn't have the patience to rebuild completely. So when we fill one hole, another one grows, and we are stuck in mediocrity. Acceptance of being 8-8 is not why he does what he does, imo. You don't become a billionaire without being competitive.

Unfortunately, they've come to embrace the belief that so many fans around here have: It's all luck, and they've just been unlucky. They're just waiting for their fortunes to change.

That's quite the change in organizational philosophy since the Cowboys coach who once said, "Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity." I think Jerry and Co. have forgotten the "preparation" part because this team is consistently unprepared to take advantage of opportunities (see the most recent debacle in Detroit).

I agree.

I don't think any of us are happy right now. But, the reality is that the team is 5-5 and has the lead on the division. They could make the playoffs and who knows.

Yes.

But, there is a *chance*.

Firebombing right now accomplishes nothing. I'd rather wait until the end of the season, re-evaluate, then firebomb and start over.

Jerry wants to win as badly as anybody here, even more so. The problem is that he thinks he knows what it takes to win, from a GM perspective. He clearly does not. But he won't admit it to himself and there is nobody around him who can tell him he can't do the job.
 
I swear, if I have to hear "well it happens to Bill Belichick or ::insert great coach here::" again, I'm going to run up and down the street naked. You know what else happens to great coaches? Playoff appearances and Conference Championships and Super Bowls.

If he just channeled his energy into being an owner and providing the team the best personnel people available, combined with his great ability to get the players he really wants in FA (some of this is due to the Cowboys mystique) this team could be one of the top in all of football on a yearly basis. Representative of what the Cowboys used to be. There'd be additional hardware in the trophy case.

But hey, somebody else getting credit with my football team? Not on my watch. This is about Jerry Jones. The Dallas Cowboys are a distant second.
