News: JG to alter sideline operation

Anybody else thinking what I am thinking?

That this is basically Garrett taking play calling back over from Callahan without having to publicly do it. You say Callahan is going to be calling the play down to Garrett and then Garrett decides what to call into Romo. Seems like it is Garrett just taking play calling back over and not wanting to embarrass Callahan by demoting him in public. Does anybody think Garrett is not going to change the play call at all from Callahan? He is just going to relay the call into Romo. You dont need your head coach to do that , anybody could just repeat the call.

I think Garrett is going to be doing a hell of alot more than just repeating what Callahan said...............................and I dont have a problem with this either, if we dont make the playoffs he is fired.........go down on your own terms.

Where are you getting this "if we don't make the playoffs, he's fired" stuff?

If I am not mistaken, Wilson will no longer be calling plays into Romo's helmet. Garrett will be on the mic with Romo and Wilson will be upstairs assisting Callahan. You cannot communicate directly from upstairs.

Correct.

League rules prohibit communication with players from anywhere but the sideline. So Garrett will be talking to Romo directly on the field now.

I'm surprised that they didn't do it this way originally. It seems like a good change.

IMO, they should have hired David Lee to be the QB coach. He was hired this season to by the NYJ to be their QB coach.

Romo made statements several years ago that the person that he learned the most from was Lee. Romo said he learned more from Lee than from Sean Payton.

Wade Wilson does not seem like a coach that would get hired by another NFL team.

We have alot of coaches that would not get hired by another NFL team.

What's funny is Ian Fitzsimmons has been saying this all week on his show. He said Wade would go up because he can read coverages, and Cally can get a better look at his Oline from the sideline.

Mostly from the beat writers...............Nick Eatman said yesterday that not only will Garrett get fired if we go 8-8, but he deserved to get fired at 8-8.................he is assuming 8-8 is not winning the division.

Also Broaddus, Mickey, and Rowan all on Talking Cowboys seemed to all agree that Jerry's statement meant nothing and it will come down to these last 6 games. Broaddus said basically "Garrett grew up in a football house and he knows the deal, he has 6 games left and he knows it"

The general consensus is that if these 6 games do not go well and we miss the playoffs (despite what Jerry said).................Garrett is fired.

Sounds like he was right about Wilson but Callahan will be upstairs according to the report

Callahan will be up in the box with Wilson. Not on the sidelines. So fitzsimmons got that part wrong.

While I want the dude gone, I'm not ready to concede the season as well. It's a toss up. Anything less then the NFC title game he still should be fired IMO.

Its a basic admission that the Callahan experiment has failed.

What I would like to see is Maraneli on a headset with someone on the field. I'm glad to see we are trying to fix the offense but what about the D?

I think it comes down to the division in my opinion...............if Garrett wins his first division title, I dont see Jerry firing him...........likewise, if Garrett has a 3rd consecutive non-winning season and no playoffs, I dont see how Jerry keeps him.

These last 6 games are going to determine his fate and the fate of this franchise.

So are there any sources here from inside the organization or is this all assumption by a group of proven inept beat writers?

How could it not?

Here's how the play calling "process" plays out in Dallas.

1. Callahan calls a play from Jason Garrett's book of plays.

2. Callahan relays the play down to the sideline to another member of the staff who then relays the play to Romo.

3. Romo gets the play call but then has free reign to change anything he wants at the LOS.

Going 8-8 or 7-9 winning this division, and then possibly getting drummed by San Fran, or a scarier thought Zona at our house, and then back with the same regime next year will be down right disgusting! I'm sorry, I want more then that.
