Hypothetical Darren McFadden thread

Felix was never even close to as talented as McFadden..Ever. And felix did not have a passion for football and let his body get sloppy.. If Mcfadden has passion for the game and wants to play for the Cowboys and wants to prove people wrong who say hes been a bust I would take him in a heartbeat.. If he pulls a Felix and decides he wants to be 30 lbs overweight and fail conditioning tests I want no part.. That kind of stuff is up to the coaches and staff to figure out what kind a guy he is and how much football really matters to him

I'd be fine under your scenario..but at some poinT you have to pony up big money.

We can't even afford Hatcher right now..another DL we have to replace now.

So I just don't see it. We have NO CAP anymore.

So how?

What do you guys think? If he does end up leaving the Raiders.

He's been about as injury prone as any other player in the league but he's undeniably a great talent when healthy. Best case scenario, Demarco goes down and then McFadden comes in...and then when Demarco is ready to come back, McFadden is probably injured again...just a revolving door of talented, injury-prone RBs.

Would you guys be interested?

I think the Cowboys will be gun-shy in terms of acquiring players with injury problems.

2002 3.8
2003 2.8
2004 3.5
What is your point? Like I said, the last few years dragged his average down.

And fwiw, I don't think Emmitt was really an elite runner.

Too many issues off the field. Sure we have not heard MUCH about it...but I recall he has several kids by several women. I am not judging him as a person...but I am stating my opinion about the football team I cheer for. Situations that messy off the field affect someone's focus in my opinion.

Can we cut the guy some slack, the guy is playing for the Raiders, not many running backs are going to prosper in that offense.

Oakland Raiders= where NFL careers go to die

BTW Wouldn't sign him unless we got McFadden for cheap

He's a good player but so is Demarco Murray when he is healthy.

Plus it's not like we would feature him like he is in Oakland.

I'll pass.

Dallas needs to find a homerun hitter that can stay healthy and block.

Better to get a back that has not repeatedly proven to be an injury waiting to happen. I know Dallas had eyes for Gavin Escobar this past draft, but Eddie Lacy was there for them in the second round. Opportunity should be there again in 2014 if they really want a solid RB.

An injury-prone player ending up on our team, with the best 'injury staff' in the league? If McFadden played on our team, he'd probably explode into thin air.

Give me Stevan Ridley instead. I couldn't care less about his fumbles. Almost all of them were fluke plays.

I completely disagree. If he were healthy, I'd take him over Adrian Peterson. He is a great runner, but unlike Peterson he's a good blitz pickup back and very effective receiver. Problem is...he can't stay healthy.

Don't know if serious or one thinks it's April Fools....

This. You know belicheck is pissed at Ridley for the fumbles. He ran for over 1000 yards last year. I'd love to have him. He'd probably start for us.

Yea, his career ypc of 4.2 and 22 TDs just scream elite talent.

Lol. You can't look at just stats to evaluate talent. That must be how kiper and mcshay do it.

You have to, ya know, watch him play. Which is hard because he's hurt more often than not.

I'm an arkansas fan. He was rarely hurt in college and should've won the Heisman twice. He's got the tools to be a good back in this league. I think there are some off field issues but can't confirm it. It comes down to one thing.,,, if the price is right...

He's a good back, I'm not saying he isn't. But his talent doesn't outweigh the injury risk, especially considering the fact that DeMarco is here.

I'd love to have him, but if we're interested in having a running back that's hurt early and often, why not keep Demarco? I see us taking a run at MJD honestly

I'm serious.

When healthy.

Peterson has to come out on 3rd and 5+ yards. He's a lousy blitz pickup back and receiver. He runs it great. But when they have to pass, that's when Toby Gerhart comes into the game.

McFadden averaged 5.3 yards per carry from 2010-2011 with the Raiders awful offensive line and no passing threat. In 2011 he had 47 catches at 10.8 yards a catch.

The problem is he can't stay healthy.

Peterson can stay healthy. I think Peterson is an awesome tailback, but if both could stay healthy I would prefer McFadden. Since McFadden can't stay healthy, the obvious choice is Peterson.

I really like Andre Williams from BC...I'd even take him in the first and then spend the rest of our picks on D-Line...but I haven't experienced a Cowboys team with a serious rushing attack in all my years of watching. I was too young to remember the Emmitt Days...

Sometimes a change of scenery is what a guy needs. Look at Reggie Bush after he left New Orleans. I just feel like McFadden isn't finished yet and I'd hate to see him go to a team like the Giants and have his career resurgence.

The guy is/has been the posterchild of inconsistency. Not to mention injury prone. But I'd be very intrigued by his potential and performance on a team that has a good stable o-line and qb (and isn't the armpit stain that is the Oakland Raiders). Somewhere where he wouldn't have to be the focus and feature. Problem is, he'd be overrated on the market. But if he came cheap, I'd bring him here. If not, someone like the Patriots would... and clean up the rest of league with him.
