What are the benefits of this team going to the playoffs?

The benefit is this, if the Cowboys win this division and get a matchup with the Panthers, I think they could possibly win that game. I wouldn't like the chances against SF, but I think the Cowboys would be able to beat the Panthers at home.

We'll if they make the playoffs the coaching staff will probably be back next year.
JJ will mortgage more of the future salary cap by restructuring contracts

Next year we will suck again and wonder is making the playoffs enough.

For me getting to see the Cowboys an extra week is enough. There is always a chance they steal a win and I can see them another week. You never know what will happen, one thing I do know if they don't make the playoffs there is zero point zero chance they will win a championship.

For fans or jerry? Cause he draws a very definitive line between the two.

Somebody, please, help me.

Why can't we suffer a demoralizing loss without completely losing all sense of context in the process? I'm so tired of pretending this depressing fatalism is 'realism.' We're a good-to-middling team in a league full of good-to-middling teams. Our problem is, has been and will continue to be with our pass defense until that liability is significantly addressed. We're good enough to beat bad teams with ineffective passing offenses. We're not good enough to beat good teams with good passing offenses most of the time. We want to qualify for the post season because post season football is fun. We want to watch another game or two because watching games is fun. We want to watch postseason games because--no matter what anybody says based off of anything they've seen to-date--we all believe there's a slight chance that anything can happen once you get into the show. We want to get into the post season because that's pretty much the only reason any fan watches football in the first place.

There's almost zero chance that Jerry Jones doesn't actually know what's really wrong with this team. Less that Jason Garrett and the rest of the coaching staff can't figure it out. The problem is obvious, and has been forever, and has very little to do with what most of us complain about on a daily basis year round. It's going to be addressed, either by this staff or the next one, in the offseason. How 'bout we just enjoy the games in this one as long as they last, huh? I don't imagine any of us are in such a hurry to see the long offseason come around any sooner than it absolutely has to.

We get at least one extra week of football, hopefully more. The last 3 years we've had to endure a month of the NFL without the Cowboys on the field. That needs to end.

It would make me feel better. Is that a good enough benefit? I know the Cowboys have issues up the wahoo, but damnit they're my team and I want them to make the playoffs. I want them to win the division. I want them to win a playoff game. And then I 'll get my hopes up that maybe just maybe this team will make some postseason noise. That's what fans do. That's the benefit, no matter the outcome.

Actually the offseason is more exciting than the actual seasons anymore.

Speaking for myself, I think being stuck in a perpetual football version of Groundhog Day is a pretty overrated experience.

You get to pretend for a week that you're one of 12 teams all with a chance to win the Super Bowl. It's a new season! Anything can happen! You don't know that!

There is no benefit. If you can't be competitive in the playoffs, there's no point in getting there. We're not building off of anything. We didn't build off of the 2009 playoff entry, we wouldn't be building off of this one either.

Making the playoffs gives a team a sense of accomplishment regardless of their chances of advancing and it adds another playoff game to Romo's resume so I don't have to keep mentioning his season finale elimination games.
